Got the GS booked in with Geoff tomorrow, haven’t been to his new place yet, took my Xchallenge to him at his old place. Can’t honestly see how he can improve it but time will tell. I will post results and opinions. You can never have enough hilltop threads.
 
Unfortunately can't make it to this group one so I'm considering posting my ECU to Hilltop.
I know I won't get the rolling road but is there any disadvantage in posting other than that?

Make sure you get him to monitor your fuel to air ratio on both runs. And post them, please. It will make interesting reading.......

Even though I have never been to the Hilltop facility, it seems to me like this is not something they do. And I find this easy to understand.

The AFR needs to be recorded before the exhaust reaches the cat. The cat. is part of the header pipes. The cat also blocks for putting in a probe past the cat. Just putting a probe into the exhaust will give a AFR reading, but the reading will be of no value as the exhaust by then has passed through the cat, and the values have changed towards a way leaner reading.

You may replace the O2 sensor with a wideband sensor, but then the ECU gets no feedback and starts running in a Limp - mode.
It would be possible to measure the AFR if you replace the O2 with a wideband sensor, and then you program an adapter that will extract info from the wideband sensor and provide the ECU with the modified data, sort of like what the AF-XIED do. I don't think Hilltopp uses an AF-XIED...


However, if the header has been replaced with a no-cat header, the reading will be more correct.

Your idea is right about measuring before the cat but the statement in RED is not quite true. It is very easy to use an Innovate Wideband LC-2 in place of the stock sensor. Then it’s analog output can be configured to simulate a narrowband signal. With this in place you can record AFR easily, something I do all the time. This gives an accurate AFR, sampled every 12.5 mS. This gives a true picture of fueling, something that one of the Hilltop users should try before and after the mod. Then we could all see what’s happening.

19 more horsepower and 20ft/lb more torque. Max horsepower now at 7500rpm not 8500rpm, max torque now at 4500rpm not 5500rpm.
 
On the road it is noticeable to say the least, it now makes more torque at 2000rpm than it did at 5500rpm.
 
Not one for shattering others dreams, I'm happy with mine. Without a doubt the best bike I've ever owned in the last forty years.

That makes 2 of us, although I have enjoyed my other bikes, I just love this GS, I waited for the last of the 2017 without TFT as to not have to be a guinea pig...:D
 
I don't want to rain on your parade here, but sometimes the Before-After Dynos from HT seems to be a bit optimistic.

I don't know what the After-run from HT shows, but here is an random find on YT, a -16 LS with Akra.

To sum it up: 119 Hp at 7925RPM and 116 Nm at 6554 RPM.


I would like to emphasize that there is no doubt in my mind that you will be able to tell the difference. But the thing is, on wide open throttle the LC is already fueled fairly well, so don't worry too much about the Dyno chart. However, on intermediate settings, and that's where we drive most of the time, a bit of extra fuel does wonders.

I really don’t give a flying fudge what anybody thinks about hilltop or any other tuner, that’s why my original reply didn’t state figures or graphs, but as you mentioned it the guy on before me on a Multistrada actually lost 1/2hp at the top end but gained loads of midrange so I have no reason to doubt my figures, mine also went in very lean after having a full akro system fitted so I think the gains are genuine.
 
As it happens the maximum torque figure on your graph is identical to mine within 1nm but mine is made at 4500rpm and the power is virtually the same also by a couple of hp but mine is made at 7500rpm. Results are similar just achieved a different way.
