I've had my Tuono Factory for seven years, spent a fortune getting it how I wanted it, twin titanium exhaust, pcIII, suspension revalve etc etc.

Now for the past year or so I've wondered if it was time to get something a little......errrr........steadier. So the bike as due an MOT on Friday and after it passed, I thought I'd nip over to Barrie Robsons and have a look at the new GS. First thoughts were how comfortable it felt (I'm 6' 4") and the general feel of quality. Anyway, long story short, I organise a test ride for Saturday morning.

Kevin told me to take it out for a couple of hours and under no circumstances bring it back after twenty minutes. Which after twenty minutes made perfect sense. I wasn't getting it at all.

So I persevered, and without even realising it, I kind of got what all you GS riders have talked about. I was blown away at the speed I could take corners and the tractability of the engine was fantastic. Within the hour, it felt like I'd been riding it for years. TBF! I wasn't far off speechless!

Sooooo, I've only gone and ordered one haven't I! TE spec in Thunder Grey. I've ordered the Akra pipe because after the Tuono the bike was virtually silent!

One question I could do with answering, the bike comes with sat nav prep, as I've no intention of using it, is it a straight forward job to remove the bar and wiring? As I'm tall, the base obscures the top part of the tachometer and I can see it bugging me!

So I reckon I've got a three to four week wait. I'm excited!

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Welcome and enjoy your new bike best colour IMO I've come from sports bikes and the new LC gives me the same buzz so much torque through the gears with comfort as well! Get some pictures up when it arrives, sorry cant help you with the sat nav although I havnt got one either I've left the mount there just in case as it doesn't bother me but I'm only 6ft 1.

Hi Graham I've also owned a Tuono - great fun but couldn't ride it all day due to my back. I'm sure you'll love the GS - the Akro will help but will never match the noise your old bike made. If you want more noise replacing the headers actually makes more of a difference (on a Twin Cam at least).

Other suggestions are proper road tyres when they become available (such as Roadsmart II) - and Ohlins really make a difference.

Dont chase the revs - use the torque to get the best out of the engine.

Best of luck with the new bike :thumb

Welcome to the site Graham, and congratulations.:thumb Here's a picture of mine, to keep you going over the next few weeks!:D:P

Ssshhhhh! They don't know yet. I'm planning a grand unveiling.

Graham, sat nav comes off easy, wiring just a plug in to power supply RHS just below the power socket. :thumby: :thumby:

Had a Tuono myself for a couple of years, fantastic hooligan tool, not so good for touring :(

Thanks for that, I'm assuming the bracket will be a straight forward couple of nuts. Might ask the dealer to remove it prior to delivery.

If the baffles are only a couple of inches, do they make much difference to the sound?

Graham how much lighter is that system when you took the hoofing great howitzer off.:eek:flag

I haven't weighed them, but there's a hell of a difference. The standard silencer weighs a ton!

Best mod for the bike though, it completely changes the performance of the engine, no mid range flat spot and better power all through the revs.

I'm putting the bike back to the standard pipe (as agreed) and I'm hoping to get a few quid for it on evil bay!

There are no baffles - only a bit of trim collar that slightly narrows the exit.

I didn't notice any difference with 'em removed.

Akrapovic don't quote any revised power 'baffles removed' figures 'cos there ain't any baffles, unlike their other cans.

I was told by my dealer that most of the quietening is done in the collectors.

If you take the slip-on off, you can see straight thru' it.

Is the Remus the same?

Another one who spends time on the Af1 forum so you're gonna struggle to keep it quiet.

What are your plans for the T?

Chopped it in. I was happy with the price and absence of hassle!

I'm just seeing how long I can keep the news away from those muppets on AF1, especially after I've given a few of them a load of grief for buying Guzzi's!

Yes Remus is the same its just a collar with a short stub and looking into the end you see right thro the can, its sounds quiet loud, tbh i have no desire to remove the baffle and on start up it has a right bark to it, it sounds much better than my TC with these akra's fitted .

I was just wondering.

How long did you all have to wait for delivery? I ordered mine two weeks ago (Grey TE) and was quite comfortable with delivery which was quoted around 6 weeks. Now I'm starting to get impatient!
