Got the tank off the Rockster and was more than a little suprised that the date stamp on the (genuine BMW) battery reads March 2005.
All seems good, bike always starts fine although it's never been left standing more than a fortnight without being used.
Tempted to leave it TBH, what thinks the collective?

What's the dilemma?

When the battery starts to fail, replace it.

Mine was of the same vintage and the clock started resetting a few months ago so I replaced it, although it was starting the bike fine.

if big trip coming up replace it, if just popping down road can allways push it back.:weights

+1 - if it's working fine just now I'd carry on...but if you are worried about it and want the extra piece of mind from sticking a new one in full your boots

Off to Cuckoo clock land in July....if I hadn't taken the tank off and seen the date stamp I wouldn't have given it a second thought but 11 years old is pretty good going....like me it's best years are behind it :D

Leave it alone till it's properly dead, you can always bump start it if it really gets bad.

Like Trickytree said "Its' best years are behind it".
Replace it now while you can shop around for the best deal.
