Oops-bought an old shitter- collective thoughts required please .

Going to change the oil/filter etc and also new front brake pads.
But being a numpty and without taking the calipers off again to have a look, which style of pad do I need ?

Loads of choice on Motorworks website but seems to be two styles

Still none the wiser as or which style of pad I need

Go to the Louis.de web site that’s best for you and enter the correct bike model, with ABS or not then check the reference for your pads

I tend to get the Brembo sintered (red) pads, they’re actually what was used as OEM on the 1200/1250s just not painted red

Louis.de are generally cheapest (in Europe) and have excellent SAV if you have a problem

I recall the pads you circled on the left being the rear pads I replaced on my GSA 10 yrs ago. You should be able to see where on the front pad the pin goes thru. I suspect it will be thru the centre...so the front pads 'should' be the right hand pad you circled.

The joy of the ‘evolving’ braking system. Those 1150s had around three different front caliper types fitted didn’t they? I certain remember getting it wrong!

That looks like the later Adv BMW/Tokico version with a push in retaining pin that takes the 2124 pad - the red ones you circled.

The caliper should have Tokico written on the inside.

Took the cover off the top of a caliper and I’ve got the centre pin style of pad so have ordered two pairs of these

Dont forget to support each caliper by a length of string looped over the bottom yoke.

Not good practice to let the calipers to just hang by the hoses.

News to me. The calipers aren't that heavy and the hoses are braided. You reckon it damages the hoses?

Re the pads, both types (Brembo and Tokico) front caliper have a centre pin

Did an oil change on the 1150 and fitted new plugs . As the service kit came with a new air filter I thought I’d fit it .
Big mistake !!
Removed old filter , fitted new one then couldn’t get the top cover back on . Took filter out and still couldn’t get cover to seat properly so fuck all chance of getting it to fit . Given up now and will get workshop to do it . It needs to go in anyway as still got slight leak from less fork seal . Dunno why as right one I fitted is fine and can’t see any pitting on the tube to affect it .
Losing interest now . Might be for sale soon 🤔

The filter sits in a recess at the bottom of the housing and the top of the filter fits into a recess on the lid. Have you got everything lined up. It’s usually open the top take out the old filter giggle the new one in giggle the lid on and snug the two screws.

Finding out all the DIY work the hard way like the rest of us...😆 Many of us on here went through this routine 20 odd years ago...👍😂 Aibox lid has to get the two little lugs at the front fitted first to get it to seat... Without that all is lost, with that it drops on...👍
