did you change the Optimate to canbus mode?Tried the Optimate with the din plug, unless i have a faulty cable, it doesn't appear to allow charging. (It works with the traditional direct to battery).
You have to touch together the crocodile clips whilst switched on which feels wrong but it’s in the instructions to switch it over.Tried the Optimate with the din plug, unless i have a faulty cable, it doesn't appear to allow charging. (It works with the traditional direct to battery).
Would probably helpdid you change the Optimate to canbus mode?
@Joe85 Assuming you’re talking about the Optimate 4 BMW Canbus model and not the standard 4.You have to touch together the crocodile clips whilst switched on which feels wrong but it’s in the instructions to switch it over.
YesIn summary, are we saying either buy the BMW Charger, New Optimate 4 QUAD to be able to charge the R1300GS?
Some of the above comments suggest that the Optimate 4 BMW version plugged into the 12v DIN will be ok.
Is the older white bmw charger ok for the new lithium batteries?View attachment 294942
Just been informed by BMW Pidcocks that the BMW Battery Charger Plus has been discontinued by BMW. I had one on my order ready to pick up tomorrow now they don't have a BMW solution that works for Lithium Batteries.
When I called Optimate they informed me that the Optimate Duo 1 or 2 will work with Lithium batteries if connected directly to the Battery but the NEW Optimate 4 Quad BMW has been delayed because the GS1300 is reporting invalid battery charge levels via the accessories port and thus the charger won't work!
Does anyone have an Optimate that is defo working with the new GS1300?
I've been using one for my 1250, so I assume I'll change setting to lithium, what I'm not clear on is if I can leave it on charge or just switch on once a month or so.Just order a BMW Plus charger from a dealer via ebay, that's what I did
They’re virtually gone off eBay now. There used to be several BMW Motorrad dealers selling them around the £90 mark, which is how I got mine.Just order a BMW Plus charger from a dealer via ebay, that's what I did
