Oradour sur glane

If you're browsing Google Maps and want to know the coordinates of a location, just right-click on the map and select What's here?. The coordinates will automatically pop up in the search box. ;)

Well ya live & learn, :beerjug::thumby:

Hello,

Thanks for the GPS, thinking of going down there over a long week-end. Probably go the motorway route all the way ( via the tolls), as we want to get to Limoges in a day, were we will probably stay at an Ibis.
Does anybody have experieance on the fastest way down not hitting Paris.

Thanks

Calais, Le Mans, Tours, Poitiers, Limoges. Motoway as far as possible between those places and then take the main roads.

Had a bite to eat in that PMU cafe bar in Oradour last week on way back from trip to Spain. Had to smile at the sign on the wall something like:

Cup of tea - from Tesco!!!!!!! :D

Was hanging around in there while couple of mates did the visit to the visitor centre and the village.

Hello Richard,

Looks sensible to me.

Thanks
David

Been there too

Long time no write, but,
Mid summer (last) I was at the route66 bikers hotel, and the host Harry, gave us directions to OSG. Very moving experience and a nice ride as well.
We did not know anything about the place until Harry spoke about it.
We were seriously lost in France, but this was a worthwhile side trip.
The order by Gen. De Gaul, that the place never be rebuilt was one of his better decisions

Interesting that there were quite a few Germans visiting the place. Also noticed many Germans in Dachau, earlier in our trip.

Cheers
Greggs

I went in 2012. The French have this absolutely spot on and the visitors center is informative giving you context of the time. In the remains of the village the silence and quietness is over whelming. An afternoon can fly by allow enough time at least 4hrs.

A very moving place that I finally visited

A few photos I took
