Hi everyone
Filled with excitement at my daring, so desperate to have a new 800 I've preordered one. I have the 650 and I love it (just a bit underpowered), the 800 just seems to be even better. Anyone ridden one?
Catherine.

The dealers get them next weekend:thumb2

Very nice bike, It's going to make the 650 seem like a toy - what colour did you order it in?

Hiya Catherine. Haven't been on one - but getting mine next Saturday!! You'll love it! The 650 is a great bike, but I don't think you'll regret making the change!:thumb

I know what you mean about the 650, it does have just enough power to keep just within the limits. Went out on the GSA today, and it just wants to to go! Ie 650 doesn't seem to like cruising much above 70mph, whereas the GSA doesn't seem to want to cruise below it.

So the 800 might be a good compromise, hopefully I'll get to have a go on one when the bikes in for it's yearly etc service :)

still excited

Thanks everyone.
Yellow, end of April, just enough time to save up! How did anyone get theirs for next Saturday? Did you just order much earlier on a gut reaction like I did? I've always been cautious before, but it just seemed like the answer to my request for the 650 souped up a bit. I rode a 1200 while mine was being fixed recently (bus drove into me from behind in Morocco). The advantages in cruising power and comfort were there. I have also ridden the KTM 650 while mine's being serviced and it is so nice to get mine back even though the KTM is new (good braking but lumpy, vibrating, lurchy). So that's the comparison from both sides.
And you just don't need to take loads of luggage, we travel with the skinny mules from metal mule and we take all that we need for 2 weeks.
It's the first time I've ever had a new bike, you know brand new.
Catherine.

Congratulations Catherine. I ordered mine at the London show and I get it a week on Thursday! First time I have ever ordered a bike I haven't ridden!

Chris

Firstly Welcome!

Good travels with your new steed. I'm really curious to see how the 650/800 turn out. Make sure to let us know how you get on with regular updates (Good or not so good).

And above all - Enjoy!

i had an 800 out on wednesday when they were servicing my GSA,thought it was brilliant .Hit 5000 revs and it just flies best bit was the gear box sweet as a nut better than my 1200 .Things i would change are a bigger screen and hand guards.Exhaust sounds good too.ENJOY:thumb

Are you sure you will be able to handle your new bike...after all you are a girl......:P

2 test rides now...

Tried the tall seat and the short seat, I got on better with the short one, I could touch the ground! and turn the bike around up a bumpy cul-de-sac, (took ages to find one). Lovely engine, gears fab, efficient brakes, looking forward to it. Silly side stand foot, so small, I know it's unstoppable but sometimes you have to. I agree, it needs hand guards. Watch this space.
