Ortlieb Rackpacks and Roll Bags

sizes and panniers

gingercoastie, glad you are happy. We aim to please. If anyone is unsure on the sizes that might fit their needs, drop me an email (info (at) gearpac . com ) or give me a call on the telephone number below. And yes the 89ltr bag is big, if can fit my sleeping mat, my sleeping bag and my two man tent in mine with some room to spare for the odd things.

As a rough guide, if you are BnB riding for a week, then 49ltr, or if your two up and camping and want it on the back of the bike behind the partner.
If your solo on longer trips the 89ltr is a cracker for all those bits of gear you seem to collect and bringing back the vino from france :augie that assuming people are all on GS's and pack as badly as I do!

Also we have had a mad rush on Ortlieb Panniers this last week. Having now sold more pannier sets in the last month than I sold all of last year. I think more folks are catching onto the fact soft luggage can be pretty good too. I will be having some more in for next week all being well for those who have enquired since the last set went out.
As as soon as they arrive with me I will have them back up and listed in the shop again.

I have just descovered that I am really bad at tent packing, so now the 89ltr is just the right size :)

Packing and Panniers

I know what you mean.. I always seem to be able to fill what ever bags I take. :blast

On the Ortlieb Motorcycle Panniers, two sets came available yesterday and the both sold within ten minutes of each other. I am now once more waiting for some more to arrive.

If you are interested in a set, please drop me a PM or an email (info (at) gearpac.com ), so i can try and make sure I have enough to satisfy the orders, and avoid dissapointing people.

Cheers

John

I guess the Ortlieb rush was due to everyone being inspired by the Siberian expedition blogs - and their preference for the Big O soft stuff?

Panniers

tallthinhack which report is that? I have missed that one.

I have sold sets to guys on the HU forums and a few have posted logs at varying times. For their present under £150 price tag, they might not be a world carrrying as some metal ones, but they are waterproof, tough and easy to fit. They also make a great option for smaller bikes like 400cc's etc where matal panniers are not as practicle.

Photos..

Found the blog.. their flyer gives a good shot of the panniers on a couple of bikes.

Ortlieb and Exped Products

Hi Angryman, hope you like them.

Regarding Ortlieb Products. I only stock a fraction of their product ranges, those which I deem more suited to bikers and travellers needs and due to me only having a limited space to store stock. However if there are products you want from their ranges, then please do enquire with me and I will get you a price.

I am still one of the cheapest stockists on the internet and I aim to be as competitive as I can be. It is not easy upgainst the likes of the high street giants but I do give it a go.

In the meantime, I have updated the website with latest items back in stock. Had a bit of run on the rackpacks, so will be filling some of the colour gaps this week.

Also - I will be away in France from the 2nd of June to till the 13th. A notice will be going up on my home page. Thursday the 28th will likley be my last postal day for most items, so please drop me a line if you are needing definite postage of an order before that date.

Cheers

John

I'm one of the Sibirsky Extreme Riders. I've been using the Ortliebs all through last winter. Riding in the snow and the salt without any issues. By the time the Sibirsky trip started they were well and truly broken in.

If fitting the panniers to an F800 you will need to add more velcro in order to span the wide back end. See my mod below

For all other pannier shots check out

Walter will be changing from the bicycle style panniers he used initially to the ones I was using. He will switch in time for the Siberia section. :thumb

Golite

Richie, I will see what I can find out for you.

Everywhere, thank. It has been a long road trying to pursuade some folks quite how good they are as a probuct. Interesting to know that you needed to extend the velco to fit with the frames. I will pass that back to the supplier.

Hope the trip goes well.

No Posted from 2nd to 13th of June 2009

If you have not spotted my previous notices, the internet store will remain open, but I will be away in Normandy visting the beaches from the 2nd of June till the 13th of June. Apologies for the dissruption. Any orders placed during that period will be posted out upon my return.

Orders posted before 11pm on Monday 1st of June should be posted out this week unless courier is required then I will contact as those will depend on specific cases.

Stock wise, I have just had some more ortlieb bags come into stock, though still temporarily out of black 49ltr. Will have some more in, upon my return.

Cheers for now.

Back from holidays.. Service Resumed..

Had a great time over in Normandy for the 65th Anniversary of D-Day and Operation Overlord. A bit damp at times, but on the whole a cracking break.

I have returned to find a number of orders waiting for me, and these will be shipped shortly.

Service as normal will be resumed as of today. So any enquiries regarding items, stock, etc please let me know.

Cheers

John

Up to date..

As of today, I should now be uptodate on posting orders placed during my holidy break. With the courier picking the last up tomorrow.

Now the answer machine has a couple of messages on it which i cannot for the life of me make out I am afraid. So if you have been waiting for a call back, apologies, but I have not been able to retrieve the numbers.

Oh and it also looks like the machine reached it's max capacity too, so if you were not able to leave a message, please drop me a line this week.

Will be restocking some items for early next week all being well too.

Cheers

John

messages..

Apologies if anyone has been trying to leave a message this last week and not caught me in the office. The answer machine has not been engaging for some unknown reason. If anyone has tried to leave a message and I have not returned your call, please try again or drop me a PM. Thanks. John

Colours back in stock..

Fresh stock arrived today and so, now have my usual ranges of red, black, grey and yellow rackpacks in, having been handily cleared out by folks in mad rush to get their items before their due departure dates. Glad to know I am not the only one who manages to leave things to the last minute.. :augie

New items due in soon..

I am pleased to announce I will soon be stocking items from Gerber and Silva as well as some other manufacturers in the near future. The new lines will hopefully include compasses, knives and multi-tools as well as a few other bits and pieces.

Ortlieb Motorcycle Panniers

I have one set of these coming in. Will be up shortly on the site. Have emailed those who left contact details enquiring about them. Will be a first come, first serve basis I am afraid. Was hoping for more, but just one set at present.

Panniers

Sadly the last set of panniers went out today. It will probably be about the end of August when some more come in, but it could be sooner.

As usually as soon as I had the last set go, had two other enquiries. Sorry for the dissapointments folks.

If there is anything else that people are looking for, but don't see it on the website, please drop me a PM or a line through the site and let me see what I can do for you.

Cheers

John

Ortlieb Panniers

Hoping to have some more pannier sets in soon. Also temporarily out of black and yellow 49ltrs rackpacks, still have red and grey in stock. Should have the others back in next week all being well.

For those who have enquired about the cycle panniers, yes we can get most of the ortlieb range, I just don't keep them in stock as I don't get a major demand for them. So if there is anything on the ortlieb website you are intereted, I am more than happy to give you a quote. I try and be as competative with the prices as I can be.

Cheers John.
