Hi

Silly question with hopefully easy answer. I am running outlook express on xp. When I exited outlook, the programme asked me to "compact" I did - no problems previously.

Now I have lost all my "inbox" messages from Nov 2007 to date

Where are these? Can I get them back?
Help?

if it comes to the worst, it's possible that your ISP still has your emails stored on a webmail service.

That was fast...
Thanks
Was going to try a "system restore"...but will try these other remedies first !!!

My advice, when/if you manage to recover your email is to start using the Mozilla range of apps, you'll have much less hassle, also if you use the http://www.portableapps.com version of those products you can use the apps on any PC without too much trouble, unlike anything that Microsh*te produce:

Thunderbird for email
Firefox for web browsing
Sunbird for calender
OpenOffice for Office

And they're FREE

Thanks for all the help

Tried to recover the files, but was not totally successful. So I have resigned myself to the loss...

Seems the trick is to ensure your inbox / sentbox is not too full and you regularly file the mails in separate files.

I regularly gert asked that question on my Outlook Express. I normally click yes as I have noticed that Outlook Express sends "copies" to the recycle bin!!.

Have a look there (unlesss you have emptied it recentley).

Good Luck

Uh-oh.

Okay Mike, it was worth a shot eh.?

I empty my "Deleted files" on Programme exit.

Is it worth you getting a "Computer store expert" to try recover them.My local PCworld offers a retrieval of files job...

Good luck to you and be safe.

Pat
