Overseas buyer!

Anyone here ever sold a bike to the trade in Europe?
Reason I ask is I advertised my GS (gumtree actually)and received a phone call from a Trader in Belguim interested in my bike.
After a few phone calls he agreed to buy it but wants me to meet him from the ferry on Liverpool Monday morning where he will collect my bike,pay me cash and disappear . He has four bikes to collect including mine and seems very genuine but who knows nowadays.
Anyway,I know someone else locally to me who advertised his BMW on eBay and he also got a phonecall from the trade (Germany I think) and he was asked to meet him at a mainland port where he would pay and collect and his sale went through perfect! Anyone else had similar as I would love to know...
As far as I can tell he aint from Nigeria

I know nothing about this particular dealer but the practice of dealers buying from the UK and shipping into europe is massive.
The price differences make it well worth while.

A large carrier bag of euros should work but watch out for forged 50's & 200's.

He asked me did I want euro or sterling but as I'm from Northern Ireland I have opted for Sterling. I think he is genuine but when someone hands you more than 9 thousand Pounds at 7am in the morning you gotta be a bit concerned!!!

Google him. I have come across a car dealer that operates the same way from Belgium and buys classic BMW's. He may be genuine. Bring someone with you and a digital camera to take pics of him if you are worried.

Make him hang around til the Bank opens and pay it straight in. I assume they check it when you pay it in?

I sold 2 bikes to the same guy on here from Prague. He was genuine and paid up front after I sent him lots of photos. Its no different than when we used to get Grey import bikes from abroad a few years back until the exchange rate turned but as with everything be cautious. This guy paid me via bank Tx 3 weeks before collection.

This guy won't pay up front until he see's the bike as he says he doesn't know if it really exists which is a fair enough comment. He says he always pays cash. I'm meeting him when boat docks in Liverpool at 6.30am so not many banks open at that time unless he will wait till 9.
Thanks for your comments guys as I probably won't sleep now for the next two nights! Coming through security at Liverpool airport with more than 9 grand will be interesting mind you

I advertised my 2005 RT in Autotrader two months ago. Four days later I had a call from a gentleman in the Netherlands who offered me 10% less than I was asking for, sight unseen on the assurance that the bike had not been heavily dropped or crashed. I agreed and three days later the money was in my bank account. Ten days later a two trailer combo turned up and a highly efficient young man added my bike to about a dozen others that had been collected from around the UK

The efficiency and assurance of the operation was impressive

I've sold to a private buyer from Portugal and asked him to come with me to the bank to pay the cash into my account. As he was genuine, he was more than happy to comply. If I were you, there is no way I'd be letting the guy take my bike without verifying the cash first.

Just rang the guy again since I posted this thread and have now googled his name and he seems legit. He has a number of GS's advertised for sale. He says he fully understands my concerns and is happy to comply with my wishes. Will sleep a bit easier tonight (although the Bud might help!) He actually has told me to take Remus off and return to standard as the twin cam is noisy enough and won't help it's sale in Belguim so if you see a Remus can advertised here you will know it all went ok

update

Just in case anyone wss wondering the outcome, i met this man in Birkenhead this morning where he checked my bike and paid me as agreed. He asked me to photograph his passport and ducuments from his bank relating to the Sterling withdrawal from his account. I have since been back home and lodged the money in my account and all worked out perfect..
The guy had two other GSes in the van and was heading to Devon to collect an RT. He had sold approx 55 GSes in Belguim all bought from the UK so if you get a call from Pierre fear not

I'm from the Netherlands and i bought my 2 previous bikes in the UK, over here there are quite a lot of dealers roaming the UK for cheap bikes to sell them here with profit....
