I've decided I'm going to take a year off the Alaska trip for one reason and another so I've come up with this little belter for 2014. It will be a fairly easy all road trip and ideal for both folk who are fairly new to touring but want something a little different from Europe and also for experienced riders who want a trip which is different from the normal. It will also be a good intro into the USA and what it has to offer and pillions will be very welcome. All bikes will be OK for this as long as you are comfortable on it so if you have anything from a 650GS to a 1600GTL it will be just fine.

As with all the trips I do, I will ship your bike to and from Santa Rosa CA and I do all the customs paperwork, loading unloading etc so all you have to do is fly in to San Francisco and your bike will be ready and waiting. I pre book all the hotels etc along the way and you pay for these as well as your fuel, food etc as you go along. The shipping has to be paid up front and because you pay for everything else as you go along it spreads the costs nicely. I will also have routes etc before we go and I will arrange insurance and give you a crib sheet of what you need and more importantly a pretty accurate total cost for budgeting. You also get me as a guide which has to be the icing on the cake

I've worked this trip so you would only need 3 weeks off work at a pinch so easily do-able for most people. There will be lots of stunning scenery and the best roads you will ever want to ride. I've timed it to be in September and just after Labor day which is just out of holiday season and the flights, roads and motels will be that bit quietier and cheaper. The weather will also have cooled down from the summer heat and should be very warm for the most part but just getting chilly in Yellowstone but not uncomfortable. It's a lovely time of year in the area and near perfect for riding.

For those of you who have been on one of my trips, I have a tried and tested method of getting everyone there and back which works well. It's not a race or a Nick Sanders trip so I allow plenty of time to see everything as we go along and enjoy everything around you. There is no point going through Yellowstone at 90mph and everything is a blur. I also know where all the good cafe's and coffee stops and I like to stop often. I also like to start nice and early and finish early as well so we have plenty of time to discuss the day and chill out properly at the end of the day.

Anyway, the basic route details are as follows:

Depart Santa Rosa CA on Monday 6th September 2014.
Follow the Pacific Coast Highway all the way up through Oregon and then cut inland to north of Seattle.
Into British Columbia and through Kamloops to Banff National Park.
Down into the stunning Waterton National Park before crossing back into the USA and Glacier National Park
South through Montana to Yellowstone National Park
Across to Cody Wyoming via the Beartooth Pass
Back into the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole which is just south of Yellowstone
Across through Idaho and the Sawtooth Mountain range and teh John Day fossil beds
Down to the stunning Crater lake and Lassen Volcanic Park and back to Santa Rosa on Friday 26th September 2014.

I'm still finalising the actual route but that is the overview. The trip will be approximately 4000 miles in total with a couple of days off so really not stressful. If you haven't been to the US before, the roads are very quiet and empty so you can do big mileages in no time so do not let the mileage put you off.

I take a maximum of 10 / 12 bikes so it's not a huge snake running across the country and it becomes a nice tight group of people.

If you want anymore details please PM me and I'll get some to you.

C'mon, you know you want to.........:thumby:
