If you've all received the email from Chris about the new insurance. Just to let you all know, it is slightly cheaper. I've gone for the highest cover they offer plus roadside assistance and it comes out at $458 insurance and $34 roadside. It doesn't mention anything about admin costs. It's 30 days cover from 1st September. Price may vary on age of bike that's all. :clap

I've just had a look at the overseas visitors section of the site & under 'step 2' it does state that there will be a $60 policy fee & 3.8% credit card fee which will be added to the premium upon processing.....does your quote include this?

Which route did you chose to get your quote? It seems to require a US zip code to get an instant quote.... ?

No I didnt see the $60 admin fee so am assuming that will be added. As for postcode, I put in my own address then you basically put the amounts in the boxes yourself and add all the boxes up at the end to come to the total. You have the option to choose the amount of cover you want but I chose the highest amount to see what it would be. In all honesty its still cheaper than motorcycle express as I still had to add the $60 admin to their final cost.

Re breakdown cover. Has anyone spoken to BMW to see if their 'European' cover extends to North America?

You never know, don't ask, don't get!

Insurance and delivery, meeting.

Dean , Shetland
We are in the process at looking at the insurance for the trip, what i am interested in doing is meeting up with everyone who is on the trip, now that Chris has a delivery date, we, myself and my wife Birgit, who will be riding her own Gs 1200 have booked our ferry from Shetland and plan to arrive in Pershore on July 14th , just wondering if anyone else had any plans for delivering their bike. Would be good to meet up if possible.:flag

I'm certain their breakdown cover doesn't cover you but their warranty is good if you do have a problem. You could ring them and ask the question though.

Sue and i are looking at being there saturday 12th. and as far as i know Chris is going to be there that day too. it's not set in stone and we could change it yet. it would be nice to meet up.

Sorry , i have posted the wrong date, we will be arriving in Pershore on Sunday the 13th July, would be good to meet you.

Sunday 13th would be a good day to have the bikes delivered if at all possible as the warehouse will be nice and quiet. Also, if the bikes get a bit dirty coming down, I can get them washed off and looking pristine for those nice people at US Customs who don't like our European dirt:thumb2

I will be doing the London to Brighton night ride (cycle!) so won't be up to coming up in the morning. What sort of time are you thinking about Chris?

I rang them some time ago & they weren't interested in extending the cover to North America.

Can't do the 13th as we're away that weekend (un)fortunately.

Regarding the insurance, I'll be going for the highest cover available & the breakdown poilcy. It comes in around £40 cheaper for me than Motorcycle Express & the breakdown cover looks far better with the new guys.

Great spot Chris, thanx again.

Can you tell me two things.
How can I contact Mikey boy from Leicester.
How much would it cost me to take my bike to the USA.
I'm going in six weeks for a trip on Route 66 or what's left of it.
Route 66 then up a bit of 101 then over to Fallon ( my dad lives there) and on Route 66 going north to Monument Valley and back south to get on 66 at flagstaff. IV been to yellow stone last year
