I bought a pair. Will try them next week.
Don't wear them inside-out, you will look like a baboon.

I can recommend Trek Cycling shorts for comfort. Although i do not use them on the Motorbike, they do a great job on my Hardtail Mountain Bike. They've got decent padding where you need it, and they're not uncomfortable to wear either.

Picture of the internal padding attached for reference - as the website does not show it.

Undoubtedly, cycling shorts should work better than Apex Rides. Cyclists are (rightfully) fussier about bib shorts than almost any other gear, as poorly padded shorts can cause cycling misery on long rides.

Another vote for cycling shorts. Avoid Aldi / Lidl centre aisle £7.99 ones , but any reputable make in the £20-40 will be better. When reading the descriptions you will see “ no of panels” eg more panels more expensive. This is the cut to get more form fitting. For riding a motorcycle I would just look at the padding. A trip to a bike shop or Decathlon will enable to judge padding quality and thickness.

Lastly when wearing them , wear them as designed, next to the skin , not on top of yer boxers. Otherwise you will get too hot and chaffing can start.

I bought a pair of, allegedly, motorcycle specific padded shorts from Motolegends. Might be called Moto Skidz or similar. Different pad shapes depending on your style of bike. Did they make a difference to bum ache? Probably not a lot but they did reduce inner thigh chafing considerably so overall a win.

I had a pair of Skivies (?) and a pair of Apex for a long, very hot trip.
Firstly, they do make a difference to comfort.
Skivies are nearly twice the price - they are antibacterial and I can wear them for 3 days before washing.
The Apex were not as efficient in this department and not quite as comfortable but close.
A possibility is to buy the Apex and see how you get on then upgrade if you want.

After reading lots of info on padded shorts, most of the advice was to avoid cycle shorts as their padding was specifically for push bikes and was therefore in the wrong place for Motorcycles. The more expensive Skivvies look good, and the fact they provide different types of padding for different motorcycles makes sense (i.e. Sports, Cruiser, Adventure). However, I decided to give the Apex a try.
When first putting them on they feel unusual, like you are wearing a nappy (not that I remember what that feels like!), but they soon contour to your body and feel OK after a short while.
I found they do feel comfortable on the bike, and I can last about an hour longer in the saddle than without them (I normally get sever bum/thigh ache after 1 hour). So I would say they do work, but I only tend to wear mine when I'm going touring or on other long journeys.
For hygienic reasons I wear underpants under them.

I tried the moto skivvies when they first came out and tbh didn't like them, not a lot of difference on the bike and felt like wearing a nappy off it!

I found Aldi's cycling underwear worked best for me, but like bar risers and screens, one man's meat etc.

The poblems I had centred around pressure points caused by the seams in my normal underwear if that helps?

Gell or air pads also work for some but as above I think you'll need to experiment to find what works best for you. Good luck

I've been thinking about these sort of shorts for when i'am fit enough to get on the bike again. I've used air hawk for big mileage days in the past and i've climbed of the bike after near 900ml days without any arse burn whatsoever; although the seats are a bit awkward to use. I can't see myself ever getting near those kind of miĺeages again so perhaps just a pair of those funky pants my be enough.

I've used the Moto Skivviez for a few years. They do make some difference but changing the seat to a Wunderlich Comfort solved the problem.

On the upside, the Skivvies are so tight they make it look like I've lost 10lbs mind you.

I have a tracing number from Rippl but when I use it on their site it comes up...Order not found.... anyone else had this ??
I'm not sure if I had this but, from what I remember, it didn't start tracking properly until the order arrived in the U.K.
