pannier fitment

Just got a set of system pannier mounting rails off e-bay... 3 fasteners either side to mount them....but...the seller also sent another 6 or so allen head bolts in with the package? I presume the system panniers are hung only from that one mounting...or am I missing something? I,am going to Edinburgh on Friday to pick up a set of panniers from another seller and want to just clip them on and ride home....

For the system panniers there are only 3 bolts that fix the rails to the subframe IIRC, and then there is a lug that is attached to the rear foot pegs that fits into a grove on the panniers. I also had a nylon strap and some extra bolts in with mine, but never worked out what they were for.

ok thanks....can see the lug on the pegs now you have pointed it out

That might of arrived with the BMW top box kit? It's the pillion grab after the rear rail is removed to fit the TB.
