Yes I have done a Search but can,t find the info I need. New Vario Panniers fitted by my Dealer during my 600 mile Service. Took them off today for the the first time but on refitting can,t get the Nearside One to engage and lock to the Mushroom. Bloody awful locking method IMHO. BMW gives a dimension of 25 to 29 mm for the Mushroom Bolt length which seem to be a hell of a variation for such a component. Please help before I break something.

Just make sure that the red clip is fully open, when you pull the red lever it doesn't release it fully. It goes on fine with a bit of juggling.

As said, make sure you have fully opened the red locking flap. I then find with a small amount of jiggling - lifting the bottom of the pannier away from the bike slightly - it clicks on.

It does seem rather a lot of faffing about. There must be a simpler way.

They can be very stiff when new. My dealer had problems when he was demonstrating them to me when I picked the bike up. However, a bit of vaseline on the mushrooms and over time the catches have eased off and are very easy to use. Just make sure the red catch is in the 'up' position, though.

Seems to me that the mushroom is set slightly too low, making it a tight fit. If you try pressing down firmly just next to the 'IE compressing the rubber bung that sits up inside the pocket the mushroom fits into' you will be able to close the catch more easily. Make sure as has been said above, the red leaver below the handle is fully open.

If the panniers still prove dificult then take the bike back to the dealer who will probably sort it for you while you wait.

There quite easy to adjust yourself. But with a new bike and a full warenty get the experts to do it.

I got mine right by trial and error then gummed the mushrooms' threads up with a drop of loktite. Took a couple of minutes.

Many thanks for the replies Guys. Managed to adjust the Mushroom to achieve engagement of the Pannier Case although it does seem to be screwed a long way out. Definately not as good as the "set-up" on my prevoius Bike, an Aprilia Futura, which was a positive "clunk/click" every trip.
