2 to be secure .
3 to add to the "Butch type" image portrayed by Gs,ers.

The Prices

i'd want to know all the costs of all the bits so i can make decisions what versions or extras i would want or not want.

No interest in having to e-mail and wait for a reply
I've spoke to a few members from across the water that say they haven't bothered because they couldn't see the prices and list of choices (no good saying you can get anything you want, people need to see examples and prices)

next would be how well they are finished... and will the finish last

then next how easy they come off and get back on(which i find not so easy )... not everybody wants to lumber about with Panniers on all the time.

also which i didn't realise.... what exhausts they fit.. the ones i got don't fit two of the exhaust systems i have

After all that i still have to say they are great panniers.. but have a few very tiny design flaws like the lack of wider exhaust fitting possibilities for the sake of another inch or so of length on the cut out.

Easily removed, but only by the owner!

Strong enough to withstand an "off"

Big enough aperture to take a full size flip-front helmet.

Strong enough mountings to laugh in the face of BMW weight limits.

This can be achieved , but then the Panniers are wider than the handle bars.

Which would be the prefered ?

I looked at them a while ago but was put off by the need to fit an exhaust extension - if I could have used them with standard 1200 exhaust without attaching said extension I'd probably have bought them.

Funny enough . There isnt an Extension on the 1200

Chaps although i do appreciate the Feed Back.
This is a General question , not necessarily about Caja Sahel Pannier sets.
What i want to know is more , what apart from the Main
considerations of Function and Price Makes you want a particular pannier
over another.
So this applies to all pannier users.

What do you want from a set of Panniers.

Not looking like a set of square dustbins bolted to the side of the bike. Each to their own, but I find the "butch" image ones look like an abortion on the bike.

Personally:

I don't go off road with them, so I don't want top filling.
I prefer side opening for ease of packing / unpacking at the end of the day.

Well I think most people would settle for a high quality powder coated 2 box and frame set that they could order and have delivered in a week for £600.
I'm at a lost really why panniers seem to be so different to anything else you buy. Normally you decide you what tent, exhaust, clothing you want, place an order and generally its with you in days.
I'm sure if someone was offering the above delivered in a week from the day you ordered they'd clean up.

What I want, want I really, really want...

Is panniers that are easy to use, which means:

Easy to get stuff into and out of - hence full lid removal and square opening
Easy to get on and off the bike
Big enough to carry my gear
Small enough to allow me to filter (ie no wider than the handlebars)

Panniers that are secure and robust - strong enough to survive repeated knocks (I'm planning a RTW trip starting next year...)

Panniers that look good and will continue to look good - yes, I'm as vain as the next man

and finally, a reasonable price...

Having looked through your website (several times), I had to resort to email conversations in order to understand the price structure to determine if I should even consider your panniers - and it's probably only because I have the time to put the energy into this that they're still on my list of possibles...

My advice - sort out a simple, easy to understand, pricing structure and publish it - the panniers are clearly good enough to stand comparison and as above, price is not (for me at least) the deciding factor unless all things are equal...

Would there be any point in adding an aerodynamic bolt-on to the leading edge.Lightish,curved plastic add-on;strong enough to hold a bottle of water etc?.No box maker has that.
Teflon corner pieces for those "oh feck" moments.
Padded internal slot for laptops.
Secure document/paperwork area.
Padded supplementary tools/spares section.

Not easily now. Caveman used to import and sold up about a year ago. If you look in the "font of all wisdom" you will see I did a detailed write up on these with lots of pitures.

I had the Alpos panniers and for a budget pannier very good. The "no frame" when removed for me was a big factor. They were not water tight and had very weak hinges and locks.

However for your bike trippy I wouldn't fit them. They make the bike wider than the BM ally panniers.
