I'm thinking of fitting panniers to my 1150GS which came with the pannier rails but I don't want to fit the GS n/s pannier with the exhaust cut out.

Do I buy a set of RT/RS panniers and the Wudo exhaust lowering kit or a pair of GIVI side racks. I already own a pair of GIVI E36 panniers.

I'm tempted to buy the Wudo kit and the GIVI racks so that I can customise the n/s rack to fit as close as the o/s rack.

What do people think?

The Wudo kit is ~ £100
The GIVI racks are £86
A pair of RT/RS panniers are about to sell on ebay for something over £100.

My 1150GS has the rails but didn't come with GS cases. Not a problem as I still have the full size cases from my old R1100RS. Personally I'm going to fit the lowering kit and get the locks coded.

In your shoes I would look at how much I could sell the Givi kit for and use the money to fit the lowering kit and BWM items instead. Simply because they fit better and closer to the bike.

Well, I didn't buy a pair of RS/RT boxes off ebay yesteday for £102 + P+P. I'm rather put off by the microscopic capacity of the BMW boxes. AFAICT the GIVI box on the RHS fits as close as the BMW box and I intend to rebuild the N/S rack to fit as close and use a Wudo kit.

How does that sound?

I also like the idea that the GIVI boxes would enable SWMBO to put her feet futher back thus allowing me enough foot room.

What do you think?

On my RS I never felt limited by the panniers capacity, and I didn't have a topbox on that bike either. I understand that bigger lids are available but if you don't fancy them then go with the Givi's.

Might have an effect on your resale value though.
