¨clymer says¨ the spacer between the two bearings is so tight that there is no play to allow a drift access to tap them out................is this true ?

What is the best method ?

any heat needed ?

thanks :)

Tis true...took five of us at last years Wee-Kend to free Bakermans wheel bearings ( I stopped for tea and cream scones :augie )!!!

I think Tarka managed to bludgeon the bastids out in the end !!

Just keep playing around the outer edge of the spacer/bearing until you manage to get a small lip to attack !

Just done mine this weekend by method recomended by my local main dealer!!
If you use a wood chisel or similar between the bearing and spacer it will push the spacer to one side enough to get a purchase on the bearing.
The spacer is held central to the bore by a couple of shoulders these are made from thin material and one will deform but when the spacer is out you can re-form it with a pair of pliers to grip the spacer again.

I have in the past removed bearings by wedging two screwdrivers and a cold chisel in the bore of the bearing then whacking the chisel. Screwdrivers at sides and chisel down middle ..the tapers lock.

Will a blind bearing puller (or an appropriately sized rawlbolt) not work?
