Paralever Bearings

Anyone know where I can get my paralever pivot bearings replaced in the Deby area?

MOT and 2000 mile tour looming and need them done quick

Sure they need replacing? Maybe adjustment is all they need?

That may be the case but I don't have to tools to adjust them so will need to pay someone to do it either way

How bad is it? Maybe it'll get through the mot as it is?

Not sure how bad it is as I've not experienced it before, it's quite obvious though now I've noticed it.
Not that it feels any different while riding though.

If be inclined to just get the mot done. If the notice it and it fails or you get an advisory then you can get it fixed without being in a blinding rush. Are you sure it's the paralever bearing not the FD bearing?

Definately the paralever, still got movement with the brake on and you can still feel it with the wheel removed and rocking the fd.

Well I oddly it depends on how much pay there is but i didn't check mine until i read Steptoe's post about checking. So i went and checked and sure enough there was approx 2mm of play. That must have been there for some time. So if it's s little amount i wouldn't expect anything bad to happen (tho somebody on here might come in with a horror story!).

I've got it booked in with Jim Hill for Saturday

he's going to inspect the bearings and adjust if OK and if they're buggered he'll replace them,

now just need to sort out the tyre that was collecting nails on Sunday

How safe is it to ride with play in the bearings?

I rode about a thousand miles mostly over 2 days with the fixed pivot working its way out, it was 8 to 10mm out when we spotted it, VERY STRAIGHT ROADS the N14 across the Northern Cape, sitting at 90 mph plus for hours in 40C heat, only saw it when replacing an alternator belt!!!!! Nipped it up and off again, the Triumph Tiger boys carry that size Allen key for their wheels I think... very handy as the return trip was another 800 miles.... if it had fallen out, different story.... Oh and I had just replaced the gearbox bearings, so the arsehole mechanic who didn't torque it was yours truly

I'm 1700km from home right now, I'll check them first thing in the morning before setting off.
My mechanic can be a bit absent minded as well
