My rear paralever has developed a creak which I think is the pivot bearings, I'm going to strip and check, and replace if needed, but my question is what grease should I use for the bearings and should the shaft splines be greased as well?

Searching this site for the topic suggests that I should use marine grease - would prefere something an auto supplier would use.

Thanks.

As you can see from the pic the bearings come packed with grease.

As for the splines they seem to have a thick white grease on them from the factory but ask what grease you're supposed to use on reassembly and you'll get many answers - I ain't got a clue which is correct.

The nearest grease I've found that at least looks like the OE grease is Optimol Paste White T from Motorworks.

Honda Moly 60 Paste is often recommended for this application on ADV and costs 7.17GBP from Honda dealers part number 087340001.

The bearings aren't expensive and you might consider replaceing them anyway.

FYI. When I did mine I found slight wear on the fixed pivot and replaced it.

Russ.

If your going to take it apart you might as well stick new bearings in... have you checked for play?

The guys at sawbridgeworth got me to weight on the back when it was the C stand and then grabed the top of the wheel to do this.
