My 1990 R100gs
I've owned this bike for a few years having bought it off my brother in law who only did about 1000mls on it during the years he had it. He in turn bought it from an old friend of mine who used it for a few years, he fitted a Hagon rear shock absorber, and replaced the gearbox with a recon unit from
Motorworks at around 30,000mls. I think he also put a clutch in and also replaced most of the fasteners with stainless steel items.
Since I've owned it I have only covered approx. 3000mls, during which time I've fitted new Tourance tyres, steering head bearings, stainless steel pushrod tubes (sorry about the leaks on your drive Kenny

) In the last 18 months or so the battery was replaced with a 30amp Varta and also heavy duty battery leads fitted. At the same time I had the starter motor reconditioned, RGM fitted a new timing chain and tensioner. A new seat cover was fitted a few weeks ago as the original was badly split.
I have decided to keep the bike a while longer so I've started a bit of a rolling restoration which in the main will be mechanical rather than cosmetic as it's a reasonably clean and tidy bike with a nice patina of age, I'm not into all this concours restoration stuff, it's a bit too anal for me.. The bike is currently in dry dock waiting for new Valves, springs and guides, and also rocker spindle bearings, as the top end was getting a bit rattly. I'm also minded to fit a new alternator rotor and diode board as I'm considering a trip to Nordcap on it next year and would like as many of the potential problem areas covered. The bike had the original speedo replaced at about 20,000mls and the current speedo is showing around 21,000mls, so total mileage is in the low 40,000's.
I have considered selling the bike a few times in order to fund other projects, but each time I get back on it for a day out I fall back in love with it. I'm beginning to think I'm as fickle as my wife
