Anyone bought from these Motorrad dealers or can anyone recommend a good dealer in or very near to London?

cheers

Do a search on Park Lane and you will find a good few responses about them. As for other London dealers, you have Prestige in Bexleyheath, Sawbridgeworth in Hertford and SLM in Caterham.

I bought my current GS from Prestige. No issues from start to finish, and the service department were very quick and efficient in dealing with a warranty issue. No complaints so far.

Prestige for me as well - good after-sales service and quick to deal with any warranty issues.

Re: Prestige Nadeem, I'm sure they are good given the remarks made, but I wish they would answer the bl**dy phone once in a while, 5 times today and no-one answering. All I'm trying to do is buy a bike

Don't let Park Lane's past history put you off buying from them.......they have had a very hard time from us in the past and deservedly so in some cases- I've used them for some urgent warrenty stuff though and found them pretty good.

Don't forget that you're not limited to using the dealer that sold you the bike for subsequent servicing or warrenty work..you can take the bike anywhere.

I'd certainly buy a bike from them, even if Prestige would be my first choice as I've always had excellent service from them.

For a limited time as well, you'll also have the added advantage of being able to meet the lovely PL2.5 Aka Sharon at Park lane....get in quick though 'cos she keeps threatening to leave :D

Whilst on the other hand - I wouldn't buy an air filter off them if they were the only dealer this side of the mersey :D Never had anything but terrible service, arrogance, indifference and general BMW 'attitude' from them despite giving them way too many 'last chances'. [edit - not from PL2 btw - sadly our paths never crossed]. Save yourself the disappointment and go to one of the other dealers mentioned above. SLM have always been pretty good for me.

Give North Oxford Garage a go - 01865-319070, call Thursday & ask for Steve.

John

you do know that they're closed on monday's...? Not sure when you posted the original reply on not getting an answer...

Nadeem, yes I know they are closed on Mondays mate, it was today I was ringing them. Finally got through this afternoon, but then wished I hadn't as the px price offered so far is a 'no go'. If they can't better it, I'll be staying with the rice rocket for a while. I know they are only going on what a dealer will be prepared to buy it for, but as I'm prepared to take delivery before Christmas (at their suggestion), instead of February/March, I figure there should be some sort of discount on the new bike. We'll see, but not looking good. If it's no go, I'll do a deal on a Gixer Thou and stick with that for a while.

Well, I'm going to say nice things about Park Lane Battersea.

I've not bought a bike from them but they were the ONLY dealer to reply when I needed spare parts sent to Brasil and later to Guyana. Both times they went above and beyond, sorting out hassles with couriers and getting me back on the road quickly.

When (or is that if) I ever get back to England I know where I'll be getting whats left of my bike serviced.

and you expect a good return on the gixer :nono

Park Lane is the BMW owned dealer, and Battersea is the BMW owned repair center.

As far as I'm aware, all others are franchises.

Battersea used to be located near the start of the M4 (forget the name of the area now) but BMW sold that building to a franchise and relocated the motorad side of things to Battersea.

Personally I have nothing but good things to say about them - I've had my bike checked/serviced every 6000 miles and have used them 7 times for normal maintenance and a couple of times for other things in the last 2 years. They changed management (at Battersea) and got better rather than worse which was nice.

When I finally get around to upgrading to a K1200S, I'll be going in to Park Lane and then servicing it at Battersea without a second thought. Even if I'm not working in London, I'll go the extra 60 or so miles just to get my bike serviced there due to my experiences with them (as opposed to 10 or so miles for BMW Reading)

BTW, I avoid BMW Reading (a franchise) like the plague - never had anything but overpriced underhanded and overrated service from them in the past and have vowed never to go there again regardless of what make of bike I have.

Park Lane / Battersea......

where to start?

With a couple of exceptions my impression is that nobody at service really gives a damn...to the point I was told "looks like your bike was make on a friday afternoon".

Not what I want to hear and very unprofessional in my view.

Trying to get prompt warranty work done is a nightmare.

I am owed a fair wedge of money for refunds for faulty kit - still outstanding.

It seems to me that it takes a well mannered tantrum in order to get somewhere -see my copious earlier posts on the subject.

On a positive note they have lent me one of their bikes whilst they try to fix all the bits that they have previously failed to fix.

It was only prompt action by Park Lane sales to a minor tantrum of mine about poor aftersales that stopped me going to BMW UK, trading standards etc etc

They have seen me right...

Bought current 1150GS from them in June and had all servicing/crash damage sorted by them. Always happy to help, especially Peter Boehi :thumb , on the service desk and have managed to work my bike into already tight schedules at very short notice. Can sometimes be a pig getting them on the phone but if you work in central London the Park Lane/Battersea sites are easy to get to and see them in person. Open Monday unlike so many BMW dealers and loan bikes if required plus all warrant stuff done/checked every visit.

End of the day you pays your money and takes your chances with the dealers. We all have good/bad experiences and sometimes you just catch them on a bad day!

Happy purchasing.
