I had my first major work done on my GS yesterday, at took it to PARK LANE as I have always had Dean Buck service my bikes for years now.

Dean has taken over as SERVICE MANAGER , I also have called on DEAN support at the HOGRAOST 2007 as he did with S.P.C in 2006

I was a bit suprised as Dean does the overseaing and doesn`t get his hand that dirty, he said he would not be personally servicing the bike.

I was given a NEW 07 GS 1200 to ride home, my bike needed a NEW CLUTCH, rear disc and general overhaul, with a bill grand comming it was almost time to trade the thing in.

Anyway I picked the bike up at 6.00 pm after a call at 4pm to say its ready, I always like to thank the person that does the work and I found JOE MARTIN working away at his bench.

Joe took time out to explain all the parts replaced and showed me the old bits, a surgical workshop with others that do seem to really enjoy their jobs.

Dean was in a meeting so we didn`t TOUCH BASE (a LONDON saying) , all I can say it was a nice experiance, even my credit card worked in there normally packs up in bike shops.

So not to suck up to much, it was a very well run place really busy on both sides cars and bikes.

With guys asking and making sure I`m O.K not knowing that I would report to you lot, so busy dealers can pull it off.

Just finding the place was a nightmare for this country boy, I have suggested they advitise the GPS cordinates on their webside as I spent 2 hours trying to find the place and I was only 500 yards away at one stage.

Straight there on returning the 1200, waypointed.

good report steve

:) always nice to read of a good service being provided

i must get along to park lane and pay dean a visit at some point ,havent seen him for a while now

Sounds like things might be improving, from my experience. There was certainly plenty of room for improvement.

I'm still waiting for a call form them to say my warranty replacment engine cover is in. Only been the best part of a year, though.

Had my bike serviced at Park Lane - Battersea on Wednesday and I must say they were very good.
I had read horror stories on this forum and was loath to take my bike to them from the off. However, when I popped in to pick up a pair of Varios about three months ago they looked the bike over while I was waiting and spotted that the gearbox seals had gone, booked it in and did the work immediately. The recent service was booked at 3 working days notice and they were really efficient and helpful - replacing the badly corroded front engine cover under manufacturer's warranty at the same time.
Top marks for Matt the service guy. :thumb
From what I could see the service area was very clean, and organised.
BTW, the place at Battersea was absolutely jam packed full with cars and difficult to get in and out of (had to queue behind a line of gridlocked cars on the way in). The bike side seemed much more orderly, with plenty of bikes about - but a much 'calmer' atmosphere.

BMW Motorrad Park Lane

Bought my 2nd hand 1150 from Park Lane in March. Good on the sales side - very heplful.

Problem occured when stranded 90 miles from home one saturday night a month ago with no electrics. Rang BMW warranty/recovery "sorry sir your bike is not registered". Aaaaargh! To be fair they sent a truck out once I'd given them a credit card number and agreed not to charge anything until discussed with Park Lane. Limped home and took into SBW Motorrad on Monday and they replaced the positive lead to battery. When battery was replaced the idiot that did it (someone ina BMW dealership somehwere) had failed to put any grease over the terminal clamp - it corroded and hence no power. £70 bill from SBW as it isn't a warranty claim. Rang Park Lane - expecting aggro, but the complete opposite. Next day they called back to say they would reimburse the £71 and sort out the lack of warranty cover.

Arguably if they'd done it right first time there wouldn't have been these problems but they did sort it out quickly. Also can't speak highly enough of SBW - always very heplful - not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
