Parking bay damage, ticket & rear indicators

Apart from the fact that some people are - sadly - selfish lowlife scrotes, the issue here is that there's not enough bike parking in London.

Livingdrone hates bikes because they mean (a) freedom and (b) no con tax for him, so he's doing as little to help bikes and bikers as he can get away with. In fact, one of the main bike parking areas (between Goswell Road and St John's Road) was put off limit to bikers and tickets issued to every single bike (around 30 used to park there) just two weeks before the Con Tax was imposed...

There are some nice people about aren't there! So much for the biking brotherhood.

Since when have Scooter riders been part of the "biking brotherhood". IMHO, the most dangerous things on the roads when riding a bike in london are scooter riders with L-plates by several orders of magnitude ! They are just f-ing crazy, with no apparent sense of awarenees etc...

"Limited disagrement" from me WC

Two wheels good, four wheels bad (with apologies to EA Blair)

Yes, there are plenty of nobbo scooter riders around. I saw one on his ear in the bus lane at Vauhall this morning, and another one on his face care of a mercedes bonnet a few weeks back on the kings road, and other one quite recently under.....etcetcetcetc

They are more of a danger to themselves than to others in the main though, and there's always a certain amount of Darwinism with the twist n go brigade. The young kids on 50cc 's quickly calm themselves when they see their mates go to casualty with major burns.

Most dangerous things on the road in London

BENDY BUSES :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire

ps I've got a Vespa too so SOD OFF scoots are good. ;)
(Mine takes three times as far to stop from 30 mph as the GS, so is gathering dust inside my flat!)

pps one of the kids round my way does great wheelies on his Gilera

Have seen this bus up my way outside Blackpool Pleasure Beach-its massive and a fair bit of kit(full of hospital beds equiptment etc)

I would go bazerk if I found somebody had interfered with my bike without permission. In fact it would be worth them doing it just so I could catch them!!

i cannot stand the attitude often encountered when somebody is letting their kid f*ck about on your bike;

"oh - its ONLY a motorbike - why the fuss?"

I rather politely point out to Waynetta that her little Johhnie is likely to severely burn his hands and face on the exhaust, and that if he pulls it over onto himself and gets crushed to death then that's not my problem.

At this point they normally disappear rather rapidly. :thumb

It could well do now there is cctv footage.

But regardless of the arrest part he is in the clear regarding the ticket.

Hi

Dickieboy - thanks

I've got the cctv footage and you can see very clearly a scooter owner coming over to his bike, pushing mine out of the bay (to get to his), and then riding off leaving the GS out in the road. 1/2 hour later the parking warden comes along - he stands around for 5 - 10 minutes then sticks a ticket on the GS. An hour later yours truly wanders out and finds his bike out in the street with a ticket.

The CCTV stuff is a bit grainy - you cant make out the scooter registration or the guys face. The positive side is that you also cant make out my expression when I saw bike hd moved...

i'll package it all up and send it on to contest the ticket

jon
And don't forget to make sure the little tw*t on the scooter gets his come uppance,
I'd like to thank you for posting this thread because as a result I now take my £5.99 disc lock with me every where again, but I never put it on my bike, and at £5.99 I won't be too bothered about leaving on a different bike should the circumstances be the same.

Parking

Here in France my bike is not covered by insurance for theft if it does not have a U-lock attached so it would not be possible to move it. Is this not the casei n the UK? Could not his poor little bloke on the scooter have felt aggrieved that his exit was blocked - by tyhe time he extracted it ( and the 1200 is not that easy to get off the stand and wheel around) he probably was too shatterered to risk putting it back ?
The problem doesn't arrise here happily and in most towns it is OK to park anywhere (including the pavement) if it doesn't obstruct anyone. But you will feel safer if there are other bikes parked in similar situations nearby. I have asked a policeman sometimes - they are amazed that anyone would ask!

now you know who did it - and that he parks there regularly - then the world is your oyster - shurely. ? ;)

A disc lock etc would be the first thing to go on his 'ped.

Yeah, and if he parks it facing out of the bay, ready to ride off, be sure to fit it so that he gets nearly a full turn of the wheel before it locks up and hoiks him off. :D :D

P.S. Don't forget your disguise to fool the CCTV. :thumb

All the above could cause damage, but applying/pushing a potato onto his exhaust outlet, so a plug is cut out by the end of of the pipe and remains in place when you remove the rest of the potato leaves his exhaust blocked, either scooter wont start, or it starts then quickly stops. Either way you are in prank territory not criminal damage.

or tie a rope to a convenient car and watch the scooter being towed away for 50 yards!!

Nope your still in criminal territory it comes under 'Unlawfully tampering with a motorvehicle'

Personally I think he oughta get both the disc lock and the potato :D

But then he wouldn't get a very Limited-Edition stunt video :thumb

Sorry but I think this F*kwit deserves the lot...! :rob

Disc lock :thumb the potato :thumb and then tie HIM to the back of the car. for 50 yards.

Fekkur !

FWIW

The guy isnt a complete knob though, he knows that if you leave your bike on yellow lines it will get a ticket. If he didnt know that he would have parked his there and not in a parking bay. So by moving your machine, and leaving it on yellow lines, he knows that the likelyhood is it will get a ticket.

Go to your local Police office and show them the video and make an official complaint. Could also drop in that there have been previous incidents where the same thing has happened (Moorove Doctrine? ) at the same location. It just depends how interested the cop you speak to is. Unfortunately theres a heck of a lot of ar*eholes employed by police forces up and down the country, however there are some good guys too. If you dont get the right response, GO HIGHER...!

You need someone who is well rehersed in the legal definitions, who will be best placed to tell you what crimes or offences have occured. Then you need positive Identification of the machine or the twat. This may come from previous video footage also. A lot of cops just dont want to do the work will just say, sorry mate, no ID so cant do anything, or that old chestnut, we dont have the resources....! Its their job after all, and they are not doing it for free.

Here endeth the sermon for today! :rob

OR MAYBE JUST THE DISC LOCK, POTATO AND A BLOODY GOOD RAG DOLLING AT THE BACK OF YOUR CAR! :nenau :D

I agree with every bit of that, if you get a tidy cop he'll relish the job it's a gift very little work for an easy result.
Don't worry too much about scooter boy if he's a first offender the worst he can expect is an all expenses paid trip to a mods convention in Rome.
