Always use a good anti seize on the frame clamp blocks. Salt and weather will get into the threads and the bolt shears off next time you try to remove it.

My bike had always been BMW serviced before I took ownership. To be fair, it was well looked after.

Both side case frame clamps were a nightmare to remove. Corrosion between the stainless screws and alloy blocks did the damage. I got the screws out but they needed a good clean up. A simple 30 minute job became a whole lot more work.

On a side note, when I recoated the engine timing cover I used copper grease all the way up to the bolt heads. Not because they will seize in the holes but because corrosion starts from the bolt heads and gets under the paint. OEM BMW fasteners are generally zinc plated steel which is less aggressive to aluminium.

But this is what happened to my crash bar - bolts plated steel into stainless
