My missus has her own bike, an F650 GS and is now used to having heated grips. However, her bike is currently in Portugal awaiting a waterpump repair! We left it there this summer and are going to collect it this Christmas as we have family there. This means she will be on the back of my bike (an R1150 GSA). On a few trips out with her as passenger her hands have been freezing and we arent even into the winter yet.

What I would like to know is if there are decent electric hand warmers available for passengers? Ideally I would hook up a cigerette lighter socket and get some that can plug in to this and fit into her gloves.

I know of the ones you can buy that rely on a chemical reaction to heat up. But they require boiling I think in order to reuse; all too much hassle on a bike trip.

Any ideas appreciated!

Oxford wrap around velcro ones. My mate has some on the sidecar grab rail for long distance trials and his passenger is the envy of the other crew's!!!!
Should be able to just put them round the grab handles when needed.

How about getting her to shove her hands in your pockets? That way her hands will be toasty and will also keep you on the boil :augie

Nice idea, but rather than keeping me on the boil, she'd have freezed off me fruit n veg!

Oxford grips ...

... if you're going down the Oxford hot-grip route, I have a pair you can have for £20 posted :augie

I had the Oxford wrap around heated pads on my R1100RS and very pleased with them. Had wished I had kept them for my passenger hand rails for young Skye :blast
