Has anyone on here just given up completely on storing made up passwords and just rely on a password manager to supply passwords and store. If so do you pay a site or use a free one. I'm just so fed up of resetting and messing around.
Suggestions please.
Thanks

I've used 1Password for years, been very happy with it and recommended it to others. Sadly they have now moved to a subscription model that I want nothing to do with.
Still using an old version at the moment, but planning on moving to Bitdefender at some point.

I just use the one inbuilt into the Chrome browser for stuff of lesser importance like this forum or for the first layer where there are secondary and tertiary levels of security like banking e.g. "name of first school" and a code sent to a phone.

I use 1Password, have found it really good. I pay for a family subscription. Moved from LastPass, that have had a lot of security breaches lately. I also have a subscription for bitdefender, but don't use their password safe

Do you let the manager just generate all the passwords for you and the family rather than make your own up

I use the free version of bitwarden, its open source and functionality is very good across multiple devices, phone laptop etc.

Yes, stuff that doesn't matter I keep the usual passwords. Sites such as banking, amazon, PayPal etc, I let the password safe generate passwords for me. I never save any passwords outside of 1Password and use 1Password to access anything important. Forums etc, not bothered about logons being saved in cache etc though. When you sign up for another site, the browser through an extension will auto generate a secure password of your choice ie length etc and then save it in your password safe for the site.

The password safe is shared across all my devices and with my other half, although she has he own log on and can have her own passwords, but there is a shared folder for things that we both need access too.

I've been using 1Password for ages.
It started going downhill after VC funds coming in... but still worth it IMHO.

Keeper for me.

I get a free personal use one because work has a commercial paid for one.

Really like it and for the relatively low cost I'd pay for it for personal use now that I've seen it in action.

A few things it sort of glitches out on - but for the vast majority of stuff it's fantastic. Never have my passwords been more secure or easier to fill in (especially on mobile devices)

1Password for me. I know people don't like paying for services and would prefer for free. I would suggest with a Password vault its the one thing well worth paying for (to keep you and you passwords safe).

I have 1Password but rarely use it as it doesn’t seem to auto-save when logging into apps on iOS.

Combination of Chrome/Google and Apple iCloud Keychain for me mostly.

Set up Autofill

Before you can use 1Password to fill and save your passwords, you’ll need to set up 1Password on your device. Then follow these steps:
  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap Passwords, then tap Password Options.
  3. Turn on AutoFill Passwords.
  4. Select 1Password.
From now on, you’ll be able to fill and save passwords, without ever opening the 1Password app.

Myself and friends used to use LastPass, but with the breaches and the lockdown to either a phone or browser, we moved to BitWarden and paid the very small fee for the pro version (although you don't need to do that) - open source too and works well.

Genuine question here,
What’s with all the hype about these password managers?

The idea of them scares the crap out of me.
Are they not a pretty dangerous single point of failure? Or am I missing something? :nenau
