Password managers help please

One suggestion on how to make a secure WiFi password.....

Make a memorable phrase, e.g. "I have 3 cats called Micky, Nigel and Thomas".

Password would be "Ih3ccMNaT".

Note capitals for names, l/c for words except first letter and numbers for numbers. You could add special characters - maybe even the quotation marks!

....at the risk of being picky.... (and I work in cybersecurity so I feel I'm allowed to be :D)

That's not massively secure. It's not at all bad, but....

Check out How Secure is my password

It reckons three days to crack your suggestion.

Add a special character (i tried an exclamation mark at the end) and it jumps to 5 years. Quite a bit better I would say.

However "3cats,Micky,Nigel,Thomas" is just as easy to remember (possibly easier?) and would take 5 octillion years to crack :yikes

My 'rule' is 3-4 words, a couple of numbers and at least one special character. Overall aim for 8 characters or (preferably) more. The longer it is, the harder it is to guess

Lots of ways of doing this, but I like to suggest routes or routines that happen in a set sequence. So "Left@Rose&CrownM4toCardiff" (8 nonillion years to crack that - whatever that is in real money)

or

"7:00AlarmShowerBrushTeeth" (400 octillion years to crack)

Find your own method, check it on the site linked to see how good / bad it is :D

Keep it easy to remember and hard for a computer to crack.

So a password comprising three random words is considered pretty strong, but possibly a bugger to remember. If only there was a free app that generated three random words, possibly directly related to a memorable location? In case you forget you could just look it up?

A "special character" in between would make it even more secure.

I know, brilliant idea and I just gave it away for nothing
W3W is your friend … but you have to be exact …
