I've no doubt this is hidden in the deep bowels of 'search' but a little help, piss taking and sarcasm is gratefully accepted on the chin :)

I've taken the great step and moved from a PC to iMac, should have done it years ago.

I've moved my iTunes across to the new Mac, but where I had 7,219 items on the PC I now only have 4,421 on my iTunes on the Mac. Those that are awol are both purchased and loaded from CD so there's no connection there methinks. How do I find those that are missing ... still showing on the PC, and move 'em across?

While I'm at it, the playlists didn't move across, so do I have to start all over again?

Thanks for any help, constructive or not, but please keep it simple for a total numpty :rob

I think you have to use iTunes to connect to the iTunes store on your new iMac and then 'Authorise' the new iMac to play the purchased music. Not an expert but it's worth a try.

If your iTunes on your PC was not setup to "Copy files to the iTunes Media folder when adding to Library" then any MP3 files will be where they were originally located on the PC instead of in the iTunes folder.

To fix this on the PC turn on this option and the option to Keep the iTunes folder organised - it might take a while but this should copy all the registered files to one structure. Then copy that structure from the PC to the IMac.

You will need to authorise the iMac as well to play anything you originally bought via the iTunes store.
