Peak District pogo rideout 23rd June

Hi guys, sorry for the delay but i have just gotten back from Wales.:thumb2

What i propose to do with regards to posting the meeting point is,i'll PM the place to 'Ming' through a different forum and he will PM those that are interested. The reason i will do it this way is so people dont turn up unanounced which could therefore make the rideout group too large for my liking.
What i will say is that it will be in the Chesterfield area.

Back on page 1 i wrote the above guys so dont flame me if you missed it.:thumb2

Six days to go til this are we all still attending ???
obviously Blue will not be because of a broken collar bone (another guide has stepped up to the mark for us )

Please confirm you are coming or not thanks :thumb

I'm there....

I plan to be in Chesterfield by around midday on Friday so if anyone else is in the area and fancies a little warm up ride on Friday afternoon/evening then drop me a PM.

I'm booked into a B&B with Greg, Martin and +1 at:

Jarv, I've removed the address of the B&B from here, not a good idea to post the address of where a load of bikes are going to be parked over night. BHT;)

so we're only about 4 or 5 miles from the the RV point on Saturday.

See you Saturday.

Bikes loaded now ready for the way too early start from home Saturday which should mean that I will be at the RV in plenty of time.
I;m looking forward to seeing some of the Peak district and of course riding some lanes.
See you there:bounce1

What a weekend!! I'm knackered!!

Simon, Martin, Mike and I having arrived in the Peaks by Friday lunchtime took a wee bimble out towards the hills. Although mapless we found a few interesting trails; the odd pigfarm and a disused quarry.

However, continual pissing down of the wet stuff led to an early bath and to take in the waters of Chesterfield during the evening recess.

One of our number (not me!!), having drunk 4 pints of Pedigree, a bottle of wine and several measures of saki, decided that he really did love his wife (at home) and needed to tell her as much even though it was just gone midnight. I understand that he will be sleeping in his garage tonight!!

He also wasn't well enough to eat his breakfast this morning!!

No matter, we met up with Ming, Hew, and Graham at the appointed place and had the most awsome day out! The speciality of the area seems to be near vertical washed out rock and loose cobble gullies and numerous downward trails with large steps.

The real madness of the area is characterised by the number of people trying to do the same trails without engines! Bikes, walkers, hikers and, for God sakes, runners!

At the top of the day's final trail we found a much welcomed ice-cream van. Whilst consuming our 99s, we heard a large trail bike coming up the same trail - a 990 KTM - being ridden by our very own Basil!

Thanks to Matt for fixing and Graham for leading.

Now where di I put that glass of Chardonnay ....?

Greg

I had a great day and really enjoyed the ride and the excellent company.
No photos I hope!
There was a bit of a pause when Greg asked a man who arrived on a gs at the cafe in Hope if he was a "Tosser", then quickly having to add about the GS web site. SG Hughes? beamed a smile and replied that he was indeed a Tosser and on his way to the Horizon unlimited event.
Just out to check if the front wheel is still round after bouncing down all the rock steps:D
Thanks to Matt and Graham for organising and leading the ride:beerjug:

Glad you enjoyed it fellas :thumb2

Good day out ,If you fancy it again just let me know :D

Eyup,
Sounds like you had an interesting afternoon after I saw you all in Hope . Good to talk to you at the Cafe.
Horizons Unlimited was well worth it - loads of potential tossers there but I thought it best to use the "Are you a Tosser?" greeting for another day.

Must buy a POGO now!:thumb2

Be VERY careful asking people this!

I only asked you because you looked an 'OK' sort of guy. If you'd turned out to be an easily offended 7th Dan judo master, I'd have asked Ming to speak to you (whilst I made a tactical withdrawal!)

Have just signed up on the site, so i hope the reply gets to the right place!

It was nice to meet you all on Saturday, the ride was great. Bit confused between real names and pseudonym's, so hope the thanks are to the right people:-
Greg (tosser?)for inviting me
Matt (Ming?) for arranging
Simon (Jarvis?) for booking B&B
Graham for leading.

Kent's not quite the same as the Peak district or Wales, but if anyone fancy's coming down for the day i'd be happy to show them the trails, i'm sure i can find some mud!

Cheers

Martin
