What a weekend!! I'm knackered!!
Simon, Martin, Mike and I having arrived in the Peaks by Friday lunchtime took a wee bimble out towards the hills. Although mapless we found a few interesting trails; the odd pigfarm and a disused quarry.
However, continual pissing down of the wet stuff led to an early bath and to take in the waters of Chesterfield during the evening recess.
One of our number (not me!!), having drunk 4 pints of Pedigree, a bottle of wine and several measures of saki, decided that he really did love his wife (at home) and needed to tell her as much even though it was just gone midnight. I understand that he will be sleeping in his garage tonight!!
He also wasn't well enough to eat his breakfast this morning!!
No matter, we met up with Ming, Hew, and Graham at the appointed place and had the most awsome day out! The speciality of the area seems to be near vertical washed out rock and loose cobble gullies and numerous downward trails with large steps.
The real madness of the area is characterised by the number of people trying to do the same trails without engines! Bikes, walkers, hikers and, for God sakes, runners!
At the top of the day's final trail we found a much welcomed ice-cream van. Whilst consuming our 99s, we heard a large trail bike coming up the same trail - a 990 KTM - being ridden by our very own Basil!
Thanks to Matt for fixing and Graham for leading.
Now where di I put that glass of Chardonnay ....?
