North Yorkshire - but the map isn't the territory
Please see below from TRF - need to act fast.

Please spend a brief part of your life sending a brief email - couldn't be easier.

Personally I wouldn't include the exact text shown, variety in responces is better.

For me, it goes against 'social inclusion' and is spending money to discriminate when budgets are tight.

Do you own thing, but please respond :thumb2

The Peak District National Park Authority plans to close 25 of the best green lanes in the park by use of TROs. The two described below in an extract from the PDNPA press release are just the first on the list.

“The Long Causeway crosses the spectacular Stanage Edge, following a route between Redmires and Hathersage. The Roych track is part of the Pennine Bridleway, a national trail dedicated principally to horse-riders, but is also used by cyclists and walkers.”

If you have any interest in preserving these lanes for vehicle use, then we need you, PLEASE, to send a few simple comments to the Peak Park by 2 November 2012 by e-mail at:

BOTH [email protected] AND [email protected]

For maximum effectiveness please keep your comments brief but please include the following:

“The action by the Peak District National Park Authority to attempt to manage legal recreational vehicle use by closing rights of way and unsealed lanes is highly discriminatory to one minority group of users and visitors. This is directly against the Park’s own strategy of welcoming all users to enjoy diverse recreational activities.”

You could also question whether spending, as they plan £100,000 on banning us is sensible, or whether the cash could be better invested in maintaining the routes for all to use. The National Park spends a fortune repairing paths that have been worn out by walkers.

Remember that hundreds of trail riders gave up their bank holiday to protest against this: an action that was widely reported in the media. Now it’s your turn to show your support, so please take a few minutes to send an email.

You can find out more about the NPA’s plans at http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/

It only takes a minute to mail - please don't copy mine, but to give you some ideas, here's my submission

Regarding the authority’s plans to close various legal roads in the Peak District (otherwise termed as green lanes BOATs etc) I wish to object.

The authority will have lots of fine words regarding ‘social inclusion’ and ‘access to all’ and yet this is clear victimisation and discrimination against a small but significant part of society. May I remind you I am also a countryside user – I bring money into the area by my trail riding activities and I pay road tax to have access (and expect a reasonable level of maintenance) to these legal roads.

In these trying budgetary times it seems incredible that the authority would consider wasting money on legal action and on more road signage to clutter the countryside by closing these legal vehicular routes.

As a legal road-tax paying vehicle owner I would like to ask why my money is being wasted in this way instead of being used for maintenance.

As well as trail riding I walk, run, cycle, MTB and climb in the Peak District. There is space for all. That is what social inclusion should provide. The Peak District is a huge area with space for all – those that don’t like walking on roads can easily stay on footpaths and bridleways.

Please offer us all equal rights of access and ensure that no one interest group holds sway.
