I have decided to bite the bullet and am looking for any tips or advice from those who have gone before.

Having lived for about 2 years with an intermittent signal from the fuel gauge and having had the tank apart a few times for servicing to reshape the float arm and clean the potentiometer the gauge stopped working about 6 months ago. Its easy to trip the odometer and refill every 250 miles and I know I get around 300 miles from my 30 litres with the low fuel light coming on with around 3 litres spare giving around 25 miles of gentle riding before a fill up is required

But last week things came to ahead when I was almost left stranded on the N20 south of Orleans having drained the tank in around 235 miles, I managed to limp into La Ferte-Saint-Aubin and put 28.7 litres into the bike – that was too close for comfort.

So I have purchased a new petrol gauge, set of hose clamps, fuel filters and strainers and o rings and am going to dissemble to tank again and swap the fuel pump into the new gauge and try to get it all reassembled and working again – and I wondered if anyone else had done this before and if anyone had any tips or advice?

I will take some photos and post an update which may be useful for others once it is all done.

Thanks in advance - Gary
