Petrol in France - advice please

I did notice the huge variation in petrol prices in france a couple of weeks ago. Within the same town, petrol was approx 1.48 at the small stations and about 1.24 at the Intermarche. And 98 is only a couple of cents more than 95 - not sure whether it makes a difference though. Petrol on the autoroute was always about 1.48 a litre.

Have some cash on you, pull into any petrol station and wait. First person along ask them to buy you some petrol... Pas de probleme
