In all the excitement of putting my bike into the dealer for accident repair I forgot that I also asked them to investigate a fuel leak.

Basically whenever I filled up there's a noticeable puddle of petrol under the bike. Not a couple of drips, a definite significant leak.

I don't think its me spilling fuel unless this bikes different from any other i've ever owned.

Before I got the bike it had a bit of work done on it but I don't think anything that would necessitate taking the tank off.

I'm hoping they find something, especially if they don't I'm on the hook for the investigation costs.

Anybody had this on their bike and found out what it was?

Sounds like it’s not been reassembled correctly but there have been a few cases where the top of the plastic tank distorts and moves away from the metal assembly that you put the petrol pump nozzle into.
If you remove the three fasteners (there appears to be six but only three actually hold the filler assembly in place onto your tank) and remove it you’ll see the distortion on the tank neck. Typical bmw design makes it nigh on impossible to repair/reseal etc.
It’s not a cheap repair at a dealership. £700+ iirc.

My first LC had a distorted filler neck, causing a significant petrol smell when I refilled - only lasting a relatively short while.

Never noticed a 'puddle' though.

Was replaced under warranty.
