Not sure how widespread the problem is, or how long its likely to last, but the locals here in this area of the Creuse are obviously expecting a shortage as they are filling up cars vans and jerry cans like I have never seen before .

Was on the phone to family in Gap this afternoon, they said that in their area they were filling cars, cans etc as well. Refinery workers striking re the retirement age upage. :nenau

They are only letting people fill their cars and no cans or anyhting without express permission her in the Correze.
Not the case here in F-C, filled my landrover up today and I was the only one at the garage.

Mind you, they probably don't know out the strikes here in 'la France le plus profond'

A friend in Charente Maritime (St Dizan du Gua) says all local stations are without fuel.

Other friend, near Mulhouse in Alsace, has no problems. Hardly surprising as most people there make a trip across the border to fill up with cheaper Swiss fuel.

Yesterday & Today I have driven from the St Malo via the Charente to Barcelona - no problems at any fuel stations on the way down the the N137 to Bordeaux as far as I could see. Then got the autoroute from Bordeaux to Perpignan - all the services I stopped had at fuel.

Mind you the story could be different on Sunday when I drive back up but I reckon I can get from the Spanish border near Perpignan to St Malo on one tank if I take it easy...

So looking forward to going to France on monday

What with terrorist threats, striking french workers and no petrol....my few days there should be bliss

Bet the rain starts next monday :blast

I'll let you know tomorrow, Calais -> Besancon, 600km
Must make sure I get topped up in Dover :thumb

Go down through Belgium, Lux & Germany to Saarbrucken/Colmar - a mate in Mulhouse says it's okay there as they are so close to the CH border

I'm due out to Brittany at the end of the month to shut my place down for the winter, my brother in law who lives there says that the Supermarkets are empty and the local garages (Elan) are max 20euros with no cans allowed.... they are locking down!

think i may wait a bit!!!.... it will be colder in November:D... i can use my heated grips!.... no muffs for me summer gloves all year round ( oh, and cold hands)

any update on the availability of diesel in Pays du Nord? I had planned to go with family Calais to DisneyParis on Sunday - A1/E19.

I'm taking the campervan which has a range of about 400 miles - could be tight!

Came up to Calais from near Cahors last night. Managed to top up with gazoil in the local John Deere outlet to get us started and there was more gazoil in several of the service stations on the A20 south of Chateauroux where we topped up. North of there many of the motorway service stations seemed to be out of gazoil but it looked like they had unleaded. Of course, on the autoroutes you end up paying a premium price.

Let me know how this goes.
I'm doing Girona to Geneva on Wednesday then Geneva to Calais Thursday!

Back in the Charente now. I filled up in Llanca near the French border and then filled up again at the local Intermarche here a few hours ago. As far as I can see about 95% of fuel stations on the way up on the autoroute had no problems with fuel.

The situation today

...could all be different by Thursday!!!
We went up from South of Lyon last Monday evening - straight to Calais with an overnight stop. Little traffic and NO shortage of petrol on the autoroutes. Came back again on Friday and Saturday. the autoroutes were almost empty and only just one garage on the autoroute (calais, Reims, Troyes, etc) advertised NO GASOIL.
Filled up the bike toady at Monoprix in Vienne - not even a queue for the pumps.
I hear that it is not so good in Lyon which we are avoiding for the moment!
