petrol stains removed from gearbox/engine

just for Mick -- its called M.E.K. ( methol ethol kenn something or other), it used to degrease aircraft componants, its heated up and it's the vapour that they use on jet engine parts, it will destroy virtually all plastics, paints, rubbers, and must only be used in controlled surroundings when heated up. I just used it cold & neat on a cloth, and the petrol stains just rub off. Getting some more in soon, down to 1ltr at the moment.

Bloody nasty stuff that I think its Trycoethelyne or something like that and is uses as stated as a degreaser often used as in a sealed hot bath go careful it can kill. I seem to remember that an RAF Tech fell in the bath cleanong bits of his bike in the late eighties and suffered a most horrific demise

Sniffing MEK is pretty much the same as sniffing petrol, are they going to ban petrol as well?

The idea is that one doesn't sniff this stuff, you also take care that it's always used in a controlled situation.

More or less with any potential danger one excercises care.

Mick.
