Pity about the date clash.:blast

Not sure about Mick, but he is, as you know, liable to arrive late on Saturday night and consume all the remaining Guinness. I hear from Jim that he may be changing the Guzzi.

Yes indeed. Had I known about the Shamrock I may have set the Donegal event on a different weekend. :blast

Pity about you missing the Galway gig:blast :blast

I had arranged to have work done in the house and can't get it changed. I would have loved to have been able to go but getting the work done will free up more time later in the year.

Good on ya - and Sandra too. :thumb
Have had the occasional UK entry, would like to see more.
I won't be in Donegal - it clashes with the 40th Shamrock rally.
Do enjoy - hope th sun shines on you both.:aidan :aidan

Thanks Gerry - I'm sure we'll have a great time :thumb Enjoy the rally

First Entry

It's not a race but a gentleman who frequents this site had his 24 shots drop through my letterbox today.

I had heard you were recently in Kerry. Did you get the back brake pads sorted.
Tis no wonder you wore them out in your haste to complete the event.
Well done sir.
:clap :clap :clap

This Rally is fecken great! How many years did it run for? Just this year and last? Wouldn't mind doing a few older ones, just for fun. Great locations:bow :clap :bow

The first time I did a photo rally was in 1975 whem Eamonn Morrissey in Limerick ran it. It lapsed and Andy Deane - then in Wicklow - ran one or two. It lapsed again and a club - the Boyne Riders - ran it in the late 70s and 80s. I left Drogheda for Kerry in 84 and the club and rally became dormant about 1990.

A new century dawned and an other old Boyne Rider - Lorcan Greene - and I drank far too much one night, got nostalgic and decided to revive the Photo Rally in 2003. It's going since and getting stronger. I depend on locals giving me pointers to the best secret places so don't be reticent in submitting suggestions.

It gives the perfect excuse to go on a wee trip.

I'm delighted you enjoy it - the previous four lists are attached.

Nostalgia is right Gerry. :rob

I remember once meeting the Bap from Drogheda at a rally somewhere or other, riding an XT500. Mad hoor. :)

Usually run across Andy Deane and his son Richard on the Riders each year.

The Bop is my brother Tom, lives in New York now, still a mad hoor, still biking. I remember getting a lift from Dublin as a pillion one evening on the XT and wishing I'd waited for the bus. He used to race the XT as a classic- well it was a single. It's still in a shed somewhere - a future project?

Didn't Tom bring a fridge from Drogheda to Limerick on the back of the bike? A legend in his own lifetime. I still use part of his quick route to Limerick.

A legend and a cool character - well with the fridge.

Any of his routes to Limerick would be quick - your talking about the Longwood route?

Speaking of speed he got arrested in Newry one day, for doing 120 MPH on the Banbridge bypass. He was racing at Nutt's Corner - great name for a race track - on a Kawa 550 and did not bother putting the mirrors back on for the trip home. His juices were flowing; metaphorically of course. They couldn't catch him till Newry and were not "best pleased". Took his money to ensure he turned up in court. The judge imposed a small fine so they owed him money.

Hey Gerry, what's the story with submitting locations? I may have 1 or 2 you might want to have a look at to see if they're worthy! And are you interested in locations in citys?

I seriously welcome all suggestions. Generally citys are best avoided although we did include the Dublin spire a few years ago. Off the beaten track is preferred. Shoot with those suggestions, please and thanks, I wanta look and see.:thumb2
