Woo Hoo - Finished at last!!

A gang of 7 of us headed off on sat morning and got just shy of 500 miles done over the 2 days and that has my 2013 photo rally done and dusted.

We left Dublin, straight up the M1 to do point #4. Then it was on to Larne via Nutts Corner and up to #3 via the A2 (North Antrim Coast road). We stopped for lunch in Ballycastle then headed for #2.

Once this was snapped it was over mouth of Lough Foyle on the ferry from Magilligan point to Greencastle and on to Buncrana to Tullyarvan Mill hostel for our digs for the night.

After consuming excess amounts of beer, we woke up with sore heads and headed for the Applegreen for curers in the form of breakfast rolls. Once we got our heads together we headed home via Letterkenny, Omagh, Enniskillen, Cavan and the N/M3 back to Dublin.

Here's the pics :-

Dan Winters Cottage

Murlough Bay Bothy

St aidans holy well

Bikes and the lads on the Foyle ferry

The reason that our heads were sore!!! :barf :blast

Looking forward to next years points already :thumby:

I can only imagine what sticky wickets GerryC and co have in store for us after a bit of whinging on other forums by some of the power ranger brigade about some of the points this year (Leitrim, Antrim and Tipperary mainly)

One quick question for GerryC - Are we allowed to use quads or should I get nobblies for the 'Bird??:P:P:P

Seeing as I can't edit the above post, Here are the pics now that I've found them again!!!

#4 - Dan Winters cottage

#3 - Murlough bay bothy

#2 - St Aidans holy well

A bike trip ain't a proper trip without getting a ferry!!

The start of the end for a good few brain cells!!

I must admit the old rectum was pinhole/manhole on that one but I'm only a novice and it's all good experience:eek

yer man on biker.ie uses an sp2 ffs

whingeing feckers :D

Sp2 is hardly the most ideal bike for the trip alright!!! What a :tosser for bad mouthing it!!

The photo rally is a fantastic way to see the whole island and beats driving the same old roads every weekend etc. Its my second year doing it and I have completed all points each year and have even done 6 of this years points twice, on 2 different bikes.

I found the Antrim point grand to do on the 'Bird but the Leitrim one was a bit of a ring twitcher alright and I won't lie, I was glad of having the GS for the Tipp point too!! All the others were a breeze to be honest and again I found some amazing roads with the most beautiful scenery this Island has to offer.

Can't wait for next years points already and we haven't had the presentation night yet !!

If it was easy it wouldn't be as much fun although getting led around the forest path over little foot bridges at the Leitrim point wasn't the highlight of my weekend, it was getting dark and the stupid sat nav kept sending us in circles :blast The trip log just shows a big blob of purple beside the lake :D
Looking forward to next year already :thumb

4 weeks

It has been a good summer & over 30 Photo Rally entries are in to date with lots of blue sky & sunshine evident.

The closing date is Nov 14th – that’s 4 weeks time.

There have not been many complaints this year – perhaps it was the good weather or alternately my view that those who dislike the event are free to ignore it is gaining ground. That said, constructive comment & suggestion is always very welcome particularly about future potential sites – please & thanks.

The locked gate at Kilcooly abbey was a shame but the abbey was still visible – assuming you were at the right gate. Murlough bay came in for mention – mostly positive it must be said.

The fact that Lady’s rest in Glenfarne is not on Garmin mapping seems to have raised issues for some – featuring on Garmin mapping is not a site selection criteria: Kevin Brooker kindly drew my attention to this location & I found it easily enough, by over ruling Garmin when it directed me through the fields; technology should be your servant – not your master?.

You can't please everybody Gerry but as long as you continue to please me you'll be fine ;) :kissy2

Many thanks to you and all your team for motivating us to get out and about on the bikes :thumby:

:aidan

if they were all at junctions on main roads where would the fun be had in that :D (joch says thatd be grand for to be handy for the tea and cake shop :P )

youd think the locals would be used to shite roads and the odd bit of shite weather

:D :hammer

What I actually said was Gerry should pick places you could photograph from the hard shoulder of the motorways :D

It would be far more convenient if you could just download the pictures from the net thus avoiding all that noisy smelly motorbike stuff :-)

And we wouldn't get wet or cold then either. I like where you're going with this ;)
But someone would have to help me with PhotoShoppe :rob

You know, the more I think about it, this whole thing is too complicated. Do you think would Gerry buy into just having the dinner, forget the whole picture thing, and let us choose what awards we think we deserve? :spl1f:
