I think mine has "grown" with me
There's about 5 spot's like this around the motor, I guess I am about to see what BMW customer Service is like when compared to Triumph
Looks just like the datatag fluid the microdots are in. Sue had a Honda with Smartwater marking and it looked very much the same, never gave it a second thought.
As for Customer services have experiance of both Triumph and BMW.....

Did you finance the purchase, if so try contacting the finance company and tell them you have not accepted the product and you have returned it and they hopefully will withhold payment to the dealer which if you only picked it up on the weekend they would not have done yet. This will put you in a far stronger position. Good luck

I think they have done a good job of touching up that corrosion, If you think thats bad you want to see the front engine cover of my 2001 1150 its a disgrace!!!! If you get any joy with yours could you stear them my way and see if they think mine should of corroded in only 11 years!!!
There's a chip of powder coat missing off the engine casing mate, where's it's been touched up, I will post a better picture of that up when I get back from work at the weekend.
The other stuff does look like a poor application of the datatag dots, and having just shelled out £12K, I think poor prep is a big deal
Had I not been running late on Saturday due to them giving me the wrong reg number to insure the bike against and the parts guy being elusive when dealing with 4 or 5 people I would have been a bit more careful in checking it over. Wife was on the phone telling me to get my arse back home as I had been gone a couple of hours and needed to get my son to Football etc etc
In the flesh it looks really bad, almost like the cases are corroded and it sticks out like a spare prick at a wedding.
Just kicking myself up the arse for not checking it over properly on delivery.

All said and done though ....... I love it to bit's, and have a bucket load of Farkles on the way and the dealer is closed today so would hope that after a chat tomorrow all will be resolved.

Looks an obscure area in the photos, but if youre not happy give them a ring and see what they say. I got the rear grab rail replaced on mine as i wasnt happy with the finish when i picked the bike up. i dont think i could be arsed demanding a new bike that just seems totally over the top but if it bugs you that much....

Thanks, The Rallye looks much better in the flesh. I actually wanted a TB, but went for the Rallye after seeing it in person and working out spec's / prices etc.
Should have black rims though
That's not good at all on a new bike but they are unlikely to replace it due to that. They are legally obliged to put it right and you have to give them that chance. I'm sure a professional paint shop could put that right.
I would be saying that you aren't at all happy and you never know, you could get it put right to your satisfaction and walk away with some goodies for your troubles

Regarding the paint finish I totally agree its not acceptable but I really do not think they are going to replace the bike or engine because of that. I would be fishing for a satisfactory 'repair' and some compensation in the way of some nice accesories - but not a twat suit

i think they will replace the engine/gearbox as necessary. and so they should.
Think best thing would be to take the bike back to the dealers and show them the problems and ask for it to be sorted out, give them a chance .
Have bought many bikes from Phil when he was at BlueBell and some had real problems, twisted frames, exploding water hoses, to name a few all which were sorted out without any further issues, he is a good bloke, as is Paul.
I think that it is most definatly the application of DataTag “dots” that is the problem and given the size of the brush they give you, about an inch and a half long, in some of the places makes it difficult to get a good finish as you have to dab the dots.
This is no excuse I know, a more professional approach would be to use a longer, smaller brush, as I do, for awkward positions. I have Datataged at leased 10 bikes.
Just think the demand a new bike, replace the engine, etc. is a bit over the top for what is a few blobs of fluorescent varnish in small patches in out of the way places.
Just in case any suggestions I am not to fussy about the condition of my bikes ask Phil or anyone who knows me, OCD don’t even get close.
Talk to the dealers sure they can sort it, and just enjoy a fantastic bike.
