Picking it up next Thursday

Love a good debate :D Thanks for the comments chaps....Having had 3 Hexheads, 4 1150's, 2 1100's, 1 100PD, a Triumph Tiger 1050, a Triumph Explorer, a VAnVan and a GTR1400 since 2004 this will make a pleasant change :)
Edit: I'm sure I missed one or two out there :rob
Ok, that's what? Fourteen or more bikes in .. eleven years, I'll give it six to eight months then...

You're not the first to make a similar prediction. :thumb2 Everyone's a keeper when I get it :blast

Work out the depreciation and you will find if you can stretch from 8 months to 2 years you will be able to keep every other one for the same cost, could have been 7 bikes in 11 years - but all of them still in the garage :thumb2

I know I've been a bad boy. :(:blast

Well.... went out for a mosey around with a casual plan at finding a bike... and it led to this...... picking it up on Thursday.... 1900 miles from new with a few goodies :bounce1

That'll do, wear well.

i do like the white, and black and blue...lol

Hi Bryn, still got the tenere ? Has it been good fun owning it? Looks good , only bloke I can find doesn't like them is adventure boy, but not sure his opinion counts as he has a versy 1000 :blast.
I'm on the edge of getting one myself, finding down sizing difficult from a 1200 GSA so I may get a tenere as the little transalp isn't doing it for me.

Everything is downsized after a GSA!

Your going to have to fill up more than once a year as well, although at 23L the S10 tank is fairly good and will carry you well past 200 miles easily, and beyond 250 if your going fairly steady.

I found the S10 felt more sprightly than the GSA I tested (2012 Model) and a shade more laid back than the stock GS of the time.

Early S10's are fairly cheap so probably not likely to lose a huge amount if you give it a go.

Hi Bryn, still got the tenere ? ............................

It has been six months so it's probably away now.

My '63 plate has done ~15,000 miles now. No issues. There was a recall to upgrade the headlamp loom, some people had had problems, mostly in the US I think where they had fitted 100 watt lamps. As I fitted 35w HID's instead I just collected the replacement and have it on the shelf for the future if needed.

A few furry fastenings from last winter's salt but otherwise all great. Hilltop massaged the electrons which made a big difference although the in-low-gear restrictors are still in place. Goes well enough for me. They are good on fuel if you can restrain your right wrist. Touring I've had 257 miles from the 23 litre tank and even brimming it afterwards could only get 21½ litres in. Actually the likelihood of needing a bigger tank is very low. That would be enough to get you from Coldfoot to Deadhorse in Alaska.

The bike was on eBay that I was looking at and was a first edition model with 40,000 but only £4400. I've ummed and rrrrd too long and it's now sold. So for the minute I'm staying on the transalp. :comfort . I'll just have to get used to the fact it not so capable.
I need a test ride on one but my local dealer isn't interested in selling teneres only R1s !

It's all good news, I'm sure they are as reliable as any bike out there and something to have confidence in . I to swap and change a lot but I am finally getting bored of phoning insurance company to change yet again to another bike. Not planning on going to dead horse yet but you never know ! :thumb

Still got it :thumb

Mine's a Gen 2 ES so it has all the bells and whistles, including the cruise control, electronic suspension, revised screen etc. I've got a wunderlich screen extender on mine, and I'd say its as good as any GS I've owned with any screen, for comfort/quietness

Next thing is a set of ARD Cases for the H&B QR frames

The first gen had a few issues including a bit of vibration which could be cured by replacing the clutch basket with the gen 2 kit, and they also revised the cam chain tensioner on the second generation.

They seem to go on and on... over on ADVrider there is a guy in the states who has had his Gen 1 3 years and has averaged 2500 miles a month on it since it was new.... and all he's done is oil and filter changes, and tyres/brake pads (NO OTHER SERVICING) at 108000 he had his cam chain tensioner pack up .......

There are some big mileage S10's out there...... :thumb

Also check out Yamahasupertenere.com American based but plenty over here , on there ;)

Regarding dealers you may want to try Tinklers in Norwich, a bit of a trek but they are very good and have sold lots of S10's. I brought mine from them in June and have nothing but good things to say about them.

Regards
Ian

Very pleased with mine:)

Very pleased with mine:)

Like the colour scheme :thumb

3 things I don't like.....

1, Sport mode is snatchy at low speeds....
2, Screen adjustment method is pants
3, Seat is crap ( but it seems all bikes have crap seats)

This is a nice little video posted over on the Super Tenere forum... Yamaha America 2015 Tenere advert
