Picking it up next Thursday

Regarding dealers you may want to try Tinklers in Norwich, a bit of a trek but they are very good and have sold lots of S10's. I brought mine from them in June and have nothing but good things to say about them.

Tinklers have my vote bought mine 1st March this year after owning 2 Explorers both of which suffered multiple recalls and dealer visits, Tinklers are an excellent dealer and they do have a S10 demo bike, although mine has very little mileage on it I have confidence in its reliability and longer term durability, neither of which I could have with the Explorer nor from what I have read thee latest batch of R1200 Gs's.

Give Adam at Tinklers a call he's the owner of the business he will set you up for a test ride.

3 things I don't like.....

1, Sport mode is snatchy at low speeds....
2, Screen adjustment method is pants
3, Seat is crap ( but it seems all bikes have crap seats)

This is a nice little video posted over on the Super Tenere forum... Yamaha America 2015 Tenere advert

1) Hilltop transformed my Mk1 in sport mode; smooth, responsive and very controllable.
2) It's even harder on the Mk1 but the mine was in the high position and I specified the Yamaha winglets and I've never felt the need to change it. Winglets make a huge difference, I've ridden bikes with and without them.
3) The Mk1 seat is great for me, done some very long days and no problem at all, I haven't even bothered to shove the sheepskin on it which was essential for long days on the 1150GS. The YAm seat seems to have different grade foams under the front and rear of the rider saddle, slide back a bit and the pressure points on your backside change completely. It actually feels like a step in the seat and no I'm not sliding onto the pillion section. :D

Not a bad video, shame the rider didn't get it a good bit further over on the road and the Yam panniers look like sh1te. :)

P.S. I don't think they changed the seat between the early and later bikes.

Regarding your S10 seat, have you done the seat mod to level it? if not the details are on the Super tenere forum its well worth the £8 for the parts and about 10mins to do the job. I found it got rid of my back ache at the small of my back and stopped the sliding into the tank every time you brake. Also as you sit level it spreads your weight evenly over the seat which makes it more comfortable.

I will list all my mods to my 2015 ZE at some time soon.

Best regards
Ian

+1 for Tinklers, bought ex demo, coming up to a year now, no issues

test ride with the view that the bike loosens up big style from 5000 miles on

if you buy new or very low miles ask and maybe get the early service thrown in free, Yamaha charge now

+ 1 for Tinklers sold a 2014 ze for a fjr1300 in September and 5 weeks later changed it back for a 2015 ze on my 3rd s10 and keeping this one.

I've made a few changes since the picture, Madstad screen adjuster, screen, winglets, Altrider crash bars & baseplate, Givi Outback panniers & top box, Arrow full system and a re-map at Track Electronics at Norwich.

Hard to multiquote at work .....

But in answer to the replies above......

Mine's been Hilltopped... and although the curves look better , seat of the pants has not made much difference....

Got the winglets, and true.... once set the screen doesn't need much shifting up and down.....

Done the seat mod as in S10 Forum, better, but stil for some reason I get numb nut syndrome after half an hour or so in the saddle....I've since tried to sit further back on the seat and it does indeed seem like a step up..... and it does seem better, but as I have short arms I could do with having bar risers to bring them back about an inch.....

Pannnier wise, I've measured the H&B frames I have , and they are symmetrical anyway... and I agree that asymmetrical looks odd ... 8" boxes from Roger at ARD Cases should keep the set up just narrower than the widest bit of the handlebars :)
