Having now checked in unpacked, showered and about to have a cool beer have to say what a fantastic hotel the Hotel Del Oso is, most impressed with everything so far!

I have stayed there a few times, always great place to stay, and food is always nice, enjoy your trip, just come back from doing the NC500 mixed weather, but bloody midges were terrible on west coast,

The free pour g and ts are ace as is the Fabada Asturiana stew as a starter .
Don’t go out to eat !!!!
The buffet brek is also brilliant.
I’ve just emailed them as think I’ll stop by in a couple of weeks on the way back from Portugal .

You planning on pottering up to Sotres and back from Espinama ? Worth it if you have time .

Have had to postpone two trips there this year as the wife unable to do quarantine on return (works for the NHS). anger
Booked again for early next year when hopefully the world is back to normal?
Can't complain too much, off to the NW of Scotland in a couple of weeks on the bike with the wife.

View from breakfast room this morning, off to Potes to fuel up and find some engine oil, seemed to have used a bit on way down? Sight glass gone from full to top of red ring to bottom of red ring ? 500 miles??? Will keep an eye on it

Nope, not even remotely jealous.
Petrol station on north road out of Potes does oil.

I'll be there next week but it looks like you've bagged the warmer and drier weather around Potes for this week. Current plan is Cangas de Onis Monday night -> Cangas del Narcea Tuesday night then see what the weather is doing and either head down into Portugal on the Ride mag route via Chaves or an additional day loop around CdN then 4 nights in Potes if the weather picks up.

I’m there for one night in a couple of weeks .Some great riding up there.
You must go ride the tracks such as Espinama to Sotres, unless you’re on an RT !
First bit gives a false impression as it’s a plateau on the top and easy going.

Just turn right out of hotel ....

Would take my old 1100rt up there, no probs, but my 1250 a bit too new at the moment, here for a bit of landscape photography have plenty of photo stops loaded on s nav to work through, after this week moving over to Spanish Pyrenees for 5 nights, then Bilbao for 3 nights

Ha ha. I was joking. Didn’t realise you were actually on an RT.
If you have time, take the cable car up to Fuente De then walk down to Espinama.
We got a taxi from the hotel to the cable car station then same guy met us in Espinama.Took about 3 hours with a stop for coffee.

Fantastic, so wish I was there, brilliant part of the world. Northern Spain is so underestimated by so many. Perhaps it’s better that way. Enjoy, real Spain is one of my favourite places.
