Picos, Del Oso...June 2009

A quick run down on our 8 day trip into the Picos. 3 of us from North Yorks...GS, Hornet and a Tiger, jumping on the Portsmouth - Santander, 5 nights in the now well known Hotel Del Oso - which has to be said, is a brilliant 3 * hotel. Then a 3 day ride to Cherbourg for the journey home.

200 plus bikes waiting to get off the ferry. Most were on their way down to the Catalunya GP. Getting off was chaos, like rats up a drain pipe. Many of the bikes had to be pushed backwards towards where the camper vans to get off.

Was supposed to meet this lad, Terry Ryan on the ship but not knowing what he looked like amongst the hoards of bikers made it difficult. Wasn't till we were waiting to get off the ferry that I discovered his bike was parked 2 away from me. Shot of him on the 800GS waiting to get out of Santander.

The Hotel del Oso. Very friendly staff, garage if you want to use it for storing the bike but there is no need.

Up to Fuente De for the cable car ride. Low cloud came rolling in...so 'quick, get a shot'

I went last autumn from North Yorks too for 5-6 days and stayed there

Met neil23 in Potes and it all went downhill from then on - cheers Neil

I can recommend that trip
