Pillion foot rest lowering Kit

Just got back from a long day out on the bike and these were waiting on the door mat.

I have to say they are beautifully made and I reckon pretty good value at £70. I'll get them fitted during the week and see how they go - cheers for the heads up Giles :beerjug:

Aha .... :D

Yes mine arrived yesterday as well.

Before ...

After ..

(Although now off the bike completely as I've painted the bolts black and they're drying ... )

Rosy has sat on the bike with one peg standard and one lowered and says its perfect. I can see her heels playing havoc with the carbon exhaust guard though ....

I've had several things priced up for runs of 50(ish) before now in ally, and I have to say, £70 quid looks a bloody good price on those :clap

Good news, looking promising then :)

My only concern is Amanda's feet and mine getting caught up. She tends to have her heelas on the pegs and me the balls of my feet so even with standard pegs we occasionaly get caught up together. Nothing that can't be sorted though.

Ahhhhh .... :blast

I've just been out for a play on my own, and am hitting my heels on the very front of the pillion foot rest hangers;

And it's really annoying !!!! What's frustrating is that it's only by a half inch at the most. Like you Andres, I like to ride on the balls of my feet, and by half an inch, these are just in the way!

Ummmmm .... I could live with it on a two up holiday, just as I'm sure Rosy can live with a standard set up for the odd hour bimbling about. So they may come off, until the need for longer holiday trips ...

Shame ....

You could lose much of that half inch by removing enough of the hanger without losing any strength and using a dome headed Allen bolt.

Whadda yer saying ?? re- drill the mounting points ??

Grind away the bit the red arrow is pointing at.............

Not ridden mine yet but off to Leisure Trail for the starter software update along with letting them have a look at the tank venting so I'll be interested to see how I get on with the hangers.

Take an angle grinder to Loretta ??????

Are you quite mad ????

It's a KTM, not a poncey WBM :blast

Actually, you mirrored my thoughts exactly (except my bike's called Katie [1], not Loretta)............

[1] Original, I know............

Despair, who said anything about drilling :blast

Andres understands.:D
Cut the surplus away however you want then blend it in with a file and paint the bare metal.

Everything has a solution, when you look again you'll understand what and where needs to be strong about the footrest hanger and that removing material where I've suggested doesn't compromise that.

Edit. You do know what a file is don't you?

Yep .... Remand file, full file, abbreviated file ... (Remand files are fuckers ... Loads of work...)
:)

A young woman gets a job in a hardware store and it’s her first day behind the counter.

Larry walks in, goes up to the young lady and says, trying to impress her “I've got a KTM 1190 in case you haven't heard and I’d like a bastard file please for my footrests”.
The girl runs off into the back of the shop sobbing her eyes out.
The manager asks what the matter is.
“There’s a old man in the shop and he’s swearing at me”.
“Swearing at you! We’ll see about that” and the manager promptly confronts the old man who's busy taking out of focus photographs around the shop.

“Hmmm poor composition..... and anyway what’s all this about you swearing at my staff?”
“Swearing?” says Larry while adjusting his aperture. “But I only asked for a bastard file”.

“I’m very sorry sir”, replies the manager. “She’s new to the job and doesn’t yet know all the technical terms”. He gives Larry his file.
The manager then explains to the girl that there is such a thing as a bastard file.

Realising the his file was too course after removing nearly half his of his footrest an embarrassed Larry comes back to the shop, this time in disguise. “I’d like a file please”, he says.
“A bastard?” asks the girl confidently.
“No, one of those little fuckers in the window will do”, says incognito Larry.

I don't think the royalty teams for Enid Blyton and JK Rowling have anything to worry about ....

I'm not long back from a longish ride with Amanda on the back.

As long as I don't put the balls of my feet on my pegs and Amanda does on her pegs there were no issues at all, no clashing of feet. It's not a problem......not ideal.......but I can happily live with that because.............

We are now two happy, comfy two-up riders :) Amanda finds her posture better as she's canting a bit further back by having her feet further forward. This has also meant that she's not sat leaning forward anymore and pushing into my back. It's weird what such a small difference can make and it feels like 6" has been added to the length of the seat as there just seems so much room now. Again, I guess, because she's canted back a bit the hand holds now feel ok (she used to complain that they felt too high).

So, no more plans to try a different seat, fit 2015 grab handles - I now have a comfy two-up bike.
