Just noticed the mounting plate under the pillion seat can be positioned forward or back (two positions) by removing the 4 screws. Mine came in the rear position and that's fine for me. Not sure why it would need to be 1 1/4 forward.

Just lift and pull. No need to remove it.

Just pull the rear seat up and push it forward or back, it's sprint loaded
