Just pulled the shaft gaitor off my R80 mono,I have no manual at the moment so could anyone give me the Torque settings for the pivots and the locknuts ,plus I have a box of NGK2411 B8ES plugs I think I got them for a Airhead but not 100% they look right and seem to fit it was Bosch ones in it and they dont look to clever.Any info would be Appreciated,Cheers Big Jets.

Sorry but should I replace the 4 shaft bolts ,I remember I replaced them in the last one I did but wondered if it was really neccessary.

Shaft bolts....
If I don't know the history, I replace them, otherwise I only replace after 2nd reuse.

I personally use Splitfire Triple Platinum TP6c plugs
fit and forget for at least 100k miles
Got them in all me airheads :thumb2

Plugs

B8ES is Triumph TR6 / T120 flavour, among other things.

My airhead runs very nicely on B6ES's, as does my '37 Norton, '57 Landrover and Mrs W's Moggie Traveller.

Hey Bigjets . . . Where are the pics ??? We want to see this thing :thumb

Torque settings (from the Haynes Manual):

Driveshaft flange to output flange (12-sided sets) = 35 - 45 Nm / 26-33 Lbs/ft
(I have no idea how you would torque these as a crow's foot won't work on a 12-sided setscrew - I just do them as tight as I can with a 10mm ring spanner).

Swing Arm Pivot (to preload bearings) = 20Nm 15 Lbs ft.
Swing Arm Pivot (normal) = 10 - 12 Nm 7.5 - 9.0 Lbs ft.
Swing Arm Pivot Locknuts = 100 - 120 Nm 74 - 88.5 Lbs ft.

These figures are not for the R80GS, R80R, R100GS or R100R - by which I think they mean the later paralever models.

If you want any more info - just ask :thumb

Bob.
