plastic bag on headers.. gutted!!

I wish mine stayed a nice blue. Mine always end up pitted with black and sort of flaking. All my GSs have done this - I don’t know what I’m doing or failing to do that they do this. The only time they stayed decent was when I had put after market headers on.

mine were mint until today, with 11K miles on them... could see your face in the things...
owner 1 used Bluejob....

I just use wire wool

Never mind... can't see them whilst riding ;)

Didn't realise BMW do Chrome or Stainless.. the chrome ones being more expensive at the breakers?
So do this suggest the chrome ones are just Stainless ones plated? (was going to try mine with a magnet this AM but forgot)

I believe the chrome on the TE is chromed stainless, but could be wrong. If is 304 stainless a magnet will still stick, but very weakly, whereas 314, often called marine grade is not magnetic.

Seems like a good excuse to buy some Akrapovic headers ;)

Mine have gone a really strange pattern. From dark to light in a straight line, but with no fading.

I tried putting a picture up but I cant get photobucket to work any more :/

Hate cleaning bikes at the best of time... But the GS is a sod to do...cleaning / polishing pipes are not top of the list for sure... But its just a shame as they were mint... anyway, they arn't now so move on.....
I'm not keep on after market units.. everything I have is modified in one way or another.. I wanted to keep the GS very standard :)

Nah, these are blue (and minging :D)

Exactly what mine look like, I also have an added effect which looks like water marks. As I’m getting to old to get down there and clean it or even look at it, it’ll stay as it is.

Yup, rain water when they're hot

Not all LCs are garage queens

Too right.. to be used.. thats why I bought it... did buy a twin cam that was not mint so I could use all year round.. but the total bike was a bit of a dog.. so sold it and bought one thats mint.. now don't want to get it mucky LOL.. you right.. got to re-adjust the though process.. .Let's get it used !!

I thought this was normal?! Mine have been blue since pretty much the week after I got the bike - I can't say I expected anything different.

yes.. LC

Do we know if the chrome pipes are Stainless ones plated?.. I will try a magnet tonight, but just wondered if anyone knows the answer...
