Plastic cover around Fuel pump controller ( GS 2005model) question.

I was reading about the fuel pump controller getting all corroded,,,, on the R1200gs because of water ingestion, how to bypass it with dys plug,,,,.

There is a Black plastic cover, covering the controller with some gaps for air and probably also for heat to get out.

I live in Iceland and temperature is mostly from around -5 to + 15c.

Would you think its safe to close these openings to prevent rain, water and dirt to enter the controller??

My 2004 bikes FPC failed within 4 years despite having a cover. My 2008 bike has been good for 6 years despite having no cover. Go figure ???

Ys its interesting point. I was just thinking the same when looking at it yesterday , if it would be best to just leave it without any cover to allow water to evaporate quickly from there. maybe just make some quick snap on cover to use if its raining then remove it after the ride to let it dry quick.

I used a bit of an old plastic 5 litre oil can and cut a shape with an extra wing the top part is sealed but the lower part is open and the wing is turned around so that water is prevented from blowing in
Mine has the 1st replacement controller still there since 2005
