Plastic hinges on GSA panniers

these hinges are not that expensive, look on the hinge for a name or number (I cant remember) and google it. you go straight to the firm that makes them. I bought 3 postage free for the price of one at bmw:JB:JB

Mrs P saw my old 03 1150GSA in Berwick-Upon-Tweed again today and the plastic pannier hinges are still holding up well as is the rest of the bike.

Just goes to show how well these things last!

Plastic hinge on my topbox broke last month, I cant see a manufactures name on the old one.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a replacment ?

You can get steel hinges at the likes of B&Q for just a few quid and slightly alter the bolt holes and they'll work just fine(I did that about eight years ago on my damaged/repaired topbox that fell off the bike and it worked fine)

Someone sourced a steel or alloy replacement hinge for the R1150GSA alloy boxes but I can't remember where the 'pattern' replacement steel hinges came from or who made them!

Just reread some of the posts in this thread and there's a company a few posts back up..........!

Hinge fault

I've just had the lid retaining strap fail and the lid hinges snap. Joy. The replacement hinges in metal which shouldn't need a strap are supplied by:

Zycology with offices covering UK.

BMW replacement hinge (Metal)

Product Number: E6-10-430-50

Just plug the part number into a search engine and it should come up with all the details needed. All the info was originally found on a US site. Hope this is of help.

PS. Has anyone got pictures of this mod for keeping your ally boxes on the frame? Mine don't have them and I'm having to be extra careful to make sure they're locked on. It can start to make you paranoid!

£22.40 + P&P for each bag from Motorworks

What sort of price are the Zycology hinges? The website I got to seemed to onlty cater for companies and didn't indicate prices.
